Here is the list of 4 possible cars which could help Ford make a comeback in India. Admittedly, we have reported earlier that there are bleak chances of Ford re-entering the Indian market. In all honesty, there is a ton of information floating around on the internet. What’s even worse is the fact that the updates keep rolling in on almost a daily basis. While there is no official word on the carmaker’s return, here are four cars that we want American auto giant to re-enter India with.

Ford India Comeback
We have already mentioned a few details on why everyone’s been talking about Ford making a comeback to India. Apart from filing the patent for Endeavour (Everest) in India, the LinkedIn page of Ford is recruiting staff. All these point toward some sort of strategy to utilize the manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. Note that it already sold its Sanand plant in Gujarat to Tata Passenger Electric Mobility for Rs 725 Crore. Hence, it is clear that the only base for its operations in India will be the Tamil Nadu plant. Ford still has a capacity to produce over 150,000 cars and 340,000 engines annually at this facility. Here are the 4 most prominent cars that could help it make it to our shores again.

New Ford Endeavour
Ford has launched the latest Ford Everest in many international markets. Note that it could also be the one which leads its Indian second innings. It has been the most popular 7-seat off-roading SUV in our market for years. In fact, the only true competitor it had is the Toyota Fortuner. Today, Fortuner is enjoying a majority market share since Ford quit manufacturing cars in India back in September 2021. Ford knows that the Endeavour is an evergreen hit in our market. It could use this tried-and-tested SUV in India to mark its re-entry.
In various international markets, the new Endeavour offers a choice between a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine, generating 170 PS and 405 Nm, and a robust 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel, delivering an impressive 210 PS and 500 Nm of peak power and torque. The former is paired with a 6-speed automatic, while the latter features a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It will offer substantial performance along with sophisticated off-roading capabilities. Additionally, it provides options for both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain configurations. It will be interesting to see which engine powers the Indian-spec model.

Ford Kuga
The next SUV which could ease Ford into our market is the Kuga. It is available as petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid in various international markets. It is longer than the Hyundai Creta at around 4.6 m. With so many engine options, Ford could give tough competition to the new Creta, which also comes with a variety of engines (excluding the plug-in hybrid). It is a practical SUV with tons of space inside the cabin for passengers, as well as luggage. Additionally, it has new-age features to pamper the passengers and a distinct road presence. It will appeal to the SUV-loving Indian customers should Ford decide to bring it to our shores.

Ford Puma
Then there is the Ford Puma. Just like Kuga, it is also a relatively budget-friendly vehicle in Ford’s international portfolio. There are all the latest features and amenities to keep the passengers happy. This includes prominent connectivity and active safety features in addition to entertainment and convenience amenities. There are also multiple powertrain options which makes it accessible to a wider range of potential customers. The fact that even it gets a hybrid mill means that it will take care of running costs too.

Ford Bronco
Considering the burgeoning lightweight off-roading segment in India, Ford Bronco could also be a prime candidate for our market. It is a successful off-roader, particularly in the USA. In fact, we also recently reported a man driving a Ford Bronco from Canada to India. It comes in many powertrain options. The most prominent model has a 2.7-litre Ecoboost engine, producing 330 hp and 542 Nm of peak power and torque. There is an automatic transmission on offer with a dedicated 4×4 drivetrain. Its boxy silhouette and brilliant off-roading capabilities ensure that the owners will be able to take it to any sort of terrain. In India, it will rival the mighty Mahindra Thar and Maruti Jimny. These are the 4 cars that could help make Ford a comeback to India.

Author’s Note
Ford is a leading global automaker with a rich history spanning over a century, recognized for its commitment to reliability, performance, and safety across diverse international markets. Despite not replicating its global success in India, the company still provides extended warranty and servicing, leveraging an existing production plant. A substantial comeback is not out of the realm of possibility. However, this time around, the focus should be on strategically capitalizing on high-selling car models to generate significant revenue and maximize profits.
