We constantly keep witnessing electric iterations of established monikers from various car marques all across the globe
The 2025 Toyota Innova Electric has finally made its debut at the Indonesian International Motor Show. This event is taking place in Jakarta. The electric avatar of the Toyota Innova is based on the Kijang Innova which is quite popular in South East Asian nations. In India, we know it as the Innova Crysta. In fact, we even have the Innova Hycross which is, essentially, an SUV version of the same. Clearly, depending on the markets, the Japanese carmaker offers distinct models to suit the needs of everyone. For now, let us take a look at the details of this EV.
2025 Toyota Innova Electric Debuts
Looking at the model from the outside, the resemblance with the Toyota Innova Crysta is evident. The front fascia contains a familiar profile with sleek headlamps which are connected via an LED light strip which runs the width of the car, a sealed-off grille section and a sporty bumper with black elements. Similarly, the tail end is also identical to the regular Innova Crysta with a connected LED taillamp, a roof-mounted spoiler and a sturdy bumper. Also, the side profile contains elegant alloy wheels with black side pillars and body graphics. Note that this model is a concept and is not likely to go into production anytime soon.
Even though this is a concept version, the Japanese car marque confirms that it bears a 59.3 kWh battery pack with a maximum power of 134 kW (182 PS) and a peak torque of a whopping 700 Nm. Taking care of the charging duties will be AC, as well as DC fast chargers. There details pertaining to range and other aspects are still scarce. Toyota says that the Innova Electric (Kijang Innova BEV) is in the long-term trial phase which means that we will keep getting glimpses of this electric MPV in times to come.
My View
As the world moves towards electrification, we are witnessing new EVs or converted ICE models of existing cars all the time. It looks inevitable that the future of mobility will be electric. Toyota has been slightly late to the EV party even though it has been pioneering the hybrid game for over a decade now. Let us keep an eye out for more such stories going forward.
