The Czech carmaker has announced the compact SUV for arrival in the first half of next year (2025).
The upcoming 2025 Skoda Kylaq compact SUV has been rendered rather beautifully by a prominent digital artist and it offers a mini Kushaq silhouette. Skoda has gained significant market share in India in the last few years. The heavily localised MQB A0 IN platform changed the fortunes of the VW-Skoda Group in our market. For Skoda, the Kushaq and Slavia, based on this platform, brought in unprecedented sales. In fact, they made India the biggest market for Skoda outside Europe. Leveraging the success of this architecture, the Czech car marque wants to penetrate into an even wider range of customers.
2025 Skoda Kylaq Virtually Rendered
This rendition stems from SRK Designs on YouTube. The artist has devised a concrete illustration of the compact SUV. At the front, it gets a bold and striking fascia, much similar to the Kushaq. The top section contains a rugged and upright bonnet with sleek LED DRLs. In the centre, there is the trademark Skoda grille with a chrome frame. The main headlamp clusters are located just above the bumper and below the LED DRLs. I find the bumper extremely sturdy and elevates the road presence substantially.
Apart from that, there are additional LED lights on the bumper which might double up as fog lamps. Underneath the bumper, you will find a solid skid plate. Moving down the sides, there are curveless door panels and gargantuan and elegant alloy wheels with squarish wheel arches. The A and B-pillars are black and so are the ORVMs. Up top, the roof is black and the roof rails elevate the SUV traits of the vehicle. I also like the side body cladding which has a silver insert on the matte black body. All in all, this certainly looks quite similar to the Kushaq with a few tweaks but that is not a bad thing.
Our View
We know that the 2025 Skoda Kylaq will borrow the platform, powertrain and transmissions from the Kushaq. Most likely, it will get the 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine with manual and automatic transmissions. Since it will have a lower price tag than the Kushaq, a wider potential customer base can be catered to. That is what Skoda is banking on to expand its footprint in India. However, it will be interesting to see how things pan out since the competition in this category is extremely fierce.
