The latest Renault Duster has been on sale in the international markets for a few months now
The 2025 Renault Duster has commenced testing in India and its latest spy shots confirmed ADAS features. Duster is a prominent name in our market. It led to the creation of what we today call the mid-size SUV segment. First launched in India in 2012, it opened new avenues for customers to own an SUV without having to spend exorbitant amounts. Slowly, rivals appeared on the scene and the French carmaker didn’t update the Duster regular. As a result, it was discontinued in India in 2022 after 10 years of existence. Finally, we are about to receive the newest model next year.
2025 Renault Duster Spotted with ADAS
There have been a few video clips of the mid-size SUV on Indian soil on the internet. In these visuals, we are able to witness a heavily camouflaged SUV plying on the road somewhere in Kerala. Even though the body is wrapped in a covering, the silhouette gives away its true identity. The muscular body panels are reminiscent of the latest Duster on sale in the international markets. However, the main point of attraction is the ADAS equipment. We know that it is a hot topic in modern cars, particularly in this category. These latest spy videos indicate that it will get an ADAS active safety suite to boost its safety prowess.
The new Renault Duster is sold with multiple powertrain options abroad including an LPG trim. However, the Indian version could come with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol mill, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine or an updated 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the Magnite. In addition, there will be the availability of manual, as well as automatic transmissions. It will be interesting to see if we get the 4WD variant which could really set it apart from the rivals. In any case, we will also experience the 7-seat Bigster iteration and a Nissan counterpart, both based on this new Duster. Hence, it will be an important product for the French auto giant.
My View
The mid-size SUV space is already full of compelling products like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Toyota Hyryder and MG Astor. Clearly, the competition is fierce. To accommodate another product requires it to be unique on multiple counts. Hence, I am excited to see how Renault will offer the new Duster to have a chance at grabbing a huge chunk of the market share of the segment it created in the first place.
