The latest iteration of the electric crossover has been launched in many parts of the world
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 was strangely missing at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Ioniq 5 has been one of the most critically acclaimed EVs in recent times. Note that it is not just for the Indian market but it has attained monumental success in international markets too. Based on the E-GMP architecture, the Ioniq 5 represents the new-age amenities of the Korean carmaker. Note that the latest updated version has been launched in many parts of the globe already. Finally, we will get it for the Indian market as well.
2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Missing at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025
Even though we were not able to witness it in New Delhi, we know how it looks from international markets. The electric crossover bears a few minor updates in terms of aesthetics in comparison to the existing model. That will help set it apart from the outgoing iteration. However, I must mention that there aren’t all that many clear alterations. The case for the inside is identical. Since this is just a minor update, it doesn’t come with a slew of modern functionalities. Also, the Ioniq 5 is already a feature-laden vehicle. Its main in-cabin highlights are:
- SmartSense Level 2 ADAS with 21 functions
- 12.3-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System
- Shift-by-Wire Gear Changes
- Virtual Engine Sound System
- Hands-free Powered Tailgate
- BlueLink Connected Car Tech with 60+ Features
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)
- Recycled Materials for Upholstery
Specs
This is where we will witness a key upgrade. The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will carry the 4th-generation 84 kWh battery pack instead of the 77.4 kWh in the outgoing trim. That will lead to an increase in range. At the moment, it comes in a single fully-loaded trim which produces a decent 217 hp and 350 Nm of maximum power and torque. The battery can be juiced up from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW ultra-fast DC charger. With the 150 kW DC fast charger, the same process will take 21 minutes. The ARAI-rated range is 631 km on a single charge which will go down in real-world conditions. Let us see when the Korean auto giant decides to bring it to our shores.

My View
Hyundai was active at the auto expo with its biggest attraction being the launch of the Creta Electric. Apart from that, it also displayed its global flagship EV, the Ioniq 9. Furthermore, it showcased its focus on electric mobility solutions including an electric three-wheeler. Clearly, the future of automobiles is electric and Hyundai is making efforts to be in the lead. However, not showing the updated Ioniq 5 does seem a bit odd. Perhaps, we will witness it in times to come.
