The electric iteration of the popular mid-size SUV is about to launch in India as the road tests are underway
The 2025 Hyundai Creta EV has been spied testing for a few months now. The Indian automobile industry has been gearing up for the idea of EVs becoming mainstream for a few years now. In fact, the growth and demand for EVs is at an all-time high. In the last couple of years, we have even received numerous new models from various carmakers to give the buyers a wide choice. Hence, it is only a matter of time before the EV portfolio and market share in India rises. For now, let us glance at the details of the upcoming mid-size electric SUV.
2025 Hyundai Creta EV Spotted Testing
The specifics of this case stem from Drrive Expo on YouTube. The visuals capture a heavily camouflaged SUV plying on a highway amidst moderate traffic. Someone driving adjacent to the EV records the entire occurrence. Firstly, we experience the electric Creta from the sides. It carries the typical silhouette of the regular Creta including side pillars, front and rear fenders, elegant alloy wheels and faux roof rails. The front wheel aches and the overall stance gives away its true identity despite it being wrapped in a heavy camouflage. In fact, the front section reveals an almost similar LED DRL and LED headlamp setup as the existing ICE version.
Now while there will be a lot similarities on the outside with the ICE Creta, the cabin will get many new-age amenities some of which are also offered on the regular Creta. In fact, some of the most widely anticipated in-cabin features include dual displays (one for the driverโs instrument cluster and one for infotainment), Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and more. Of course, more details will emerge at a later stage. Finally, the information regarding the battery, range, price and specifications will surface at the launch.
My View
Hyundai Creta is the most successful mid-size SUV in the country. It has been attracting customers for many years now and the demand is still strong. Aiming to leverage its popularity, the Korean auto giant wishes to launch its electric avatar to offer new buyers a futuristic powertrain. With that, it will also expand its electric portfolio in the country. It remains to be seen how Hyundai prices the Creta EV and how the customers react to it.
