The electric vehicle industry has been growing rapidly in our country. While a lot of focus still remains on the four-wheeler space, the two-wheeler market is silently evolving. Amidst all this, the TVS iQube is a prominent product which has been in our market for a while now. However, for the 2024 model year, it has received some interesting updates. TVS iQube
The most affordable variant of the lineup is the iQube. It retails for Rs 84,999, ex-showroom New Delhi. This price takes into consideration the EMPS subsidy and the subsidy from the State Government and cashback. These are valid till June 30. Its prices will be the biggest attraction of this trim. Note that these are introductory prices which will rise in some days. Also, this is a new variant (with the 2.2 kWh battery pack) which has been added to the lineup this time around. Prior to this, this trim was available with the larger 3.4 kWh battery pack. Despite being the most affordable one in the portfolio, there is no want of the latest tech, connectivity and comfort features. These include:
- 5-inch TFT Colour Screen
- Fastest Charging Time of 2 hours (0-80%)
- Vehicle Crash and Tow Alert
- Turn-by-Turn Navigation
- Distance to Empty
- Top Speed of 75 kmph
- Walnut Brown and Pearl White Colour Options
TVS iQube ST
Next up, we have the highest trim in the lineup of the 2024 TVS iQube. It is called the ST variant which is available in two battery pack configurations – 5.1 kWh and 3.4 kWh. The price of the top-of-the-line variant is Rs 1,85,373, ex-showroom New Delhi. Interestingly, the customers who have pre-booked this trim will be eligible for an introductory loyalty bonus of Rs 10,000. It comes with all the bells and whistles to take care of every aspect. On the other hand, the iQube ST with a smaller 3.4 kWh battery pack has a price tag of Rs 1,38,555, ex-showroom New Delhi. This includes the EMPS subsidy and subsidy from the State Government. Finally, the TVS iQube S is the mid-level trim. It is for those who are looking to strike a balance between features, performance and affordability. I reckon this could be the most-selling variant in the entire lineup. In the automobile industry, the second-from-top iteration of any vehicle is regarded as the most value for money. Our View
The 2024 TVS iQube has been developed using in-house EV technology. This moniker has already achieved a significant milestone of selling 3,00,000 units. Since this is already an established name in the industry, the addition of new variants will make it even more accessible to a wider range of potential buyers going forward. The EV race in the two-wheeler segment of our market has been heating up for a long time now. There are successful new players in this space including the likes of Ola and Ather along with half a dozen top new companies. However, the pushback from the legacy firms has been strong. They are investing heavily in ensuring a smooth transition from petrol to electric.
What is even more impressive is the fact that TVS is about to commence operations in France soon. In fact, it has already started this process in Italy. Hence, the global ambitions of the Indian two-wheeler giant are evident. Not to mention, it is already active in 80 countries across the world with over 50 million customers in the EV space. Therefore, it is a well-established company which knows what its customers want. For now, we shall keep an eye out for how well the Indian customers receive the new variants.
