It looks like MG Motor India is prepping to launch a facelift of the Gloster. The flagship SUV from the Chinese-backed carmaker made its local debut back in 2020. While it has found some buyers, it continues to be dominated by the Toyota Fortuner on the monthly sales charts. In fact, earlier this year, the sales data showed how the Fortuner is a whopping 1000% more popular than the Gloster. This, even when the latter offers many more features and even looks half-a-shoe-size bigger. Now, though, it looks like a mid-life facelift trying to enhance the appeal of the slow-seller is on the anvil.

What’s New?
While the test mules have been undergoing road tests with a heavy camouflage, there are good chances of the upcoming facelift looking like the 2023 Maxus D90. This will be in accordance with how the current Gloster looks almost exactly like the pre-facelift D90. It’s noteworthy that the India-spec MG Gloster is essentially the same as the pre-facelift Maxus D90, albeit, with different badges and minor cosmetic variations.
Akin to the donor model, the MG Gloster will receive a new front-end styling pack as a part of the facelift. The current grille will give way to a rectangular unit holding vertical DRLs. The bumper will e new and so will be the headlights. In the profile, the three-row SUV will receive new alloy wheels and a new trim for the front fender. The rear-end will likely feature new taillamps, dual exhaust tires and a roof spoiler.
