This drag race competition between the 2024 Maruti Swift and Tata Punch shows some interesting results. YouTubers often adopt the method of drag racing to compare the straight-line acceleration performance of two vehicles. While this might not be the ideal way to judge the capabilities of cars, it is certainly getting a lot of traction online. The new Swift comes with a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine, while the Punch also draws power from a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder mill. Let us see which one comes out on top.
2024 Maruti Swift vs Tata Punch Drag Race
This video comes from MRD Cars on YouTube. The host has the new Swift in manual and the Punch in automatic variant. For the first round, the drivers decide to keep the AC on. On the count of three, both drivers accelerate hard. Being a peppy and lightweight hatchback, the Swift lunges forward and takes the lead. The automatic transmission of the Punch refuses to shift gears aggressively. As a result, the Swift takes the first round. A similar trend followed in the subsequent rounds. In fact, in the final round, the driver of the Swift kept the AC on, while that of the Punch switched it off. Still, the Swift was the undisputed winner of this drag race.

Our View
Drag Race is something modern automobile content creators perform regularly. The viewers really seem to enjoy these for some reason. However, I must advise our readers to never get involved in such cases to ensure that your health and safety are not compromised. Furthermore, cars are not meant to be driven in such a manner all the time. Therefore, the straight-line acceleration performance of cars barely proves anything. I urge our readers to consume such content only for entertainment and never try to imitate such content creators.
