The much-anticipated 2024 Maruti Swift has finally been launched in our market. The largest carmaker in the country has given it a thorough update in terms of the powertrain, aesthetics, interior layout and amenities. The fourth-generation Swift is based on the same HEARTECT platform as the outgoing third-generation model. Still, the length is a full 20 mm longer but the wheelbase remains the same at 2,450 mm. However, the biggest update comes in the form of the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z Series engine which is significantly more fuel efficient than the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K Series engine it replaces. Let us get into the details of the new 2024 Maruti Swift.
2024 Maruti Swift – Price
The new Swift starts at an attractive Rs 6.49 lakh for the base Lxi MT version and goes all the way up to Rs 9.65 lakh, ex-showroom for the Zxi+ AMT DT trim. That makes it Rs 37,000 more expensive in the top variant in comparison to the outgoing model. The variant-wise prices of the new Maruti Swift are:
Variant-wise Price | New Swift MT | New Swift AGS |
Lxi | Rs 6.49 lakh | – |

2024 Maruti Swift – Exterior Styling and Dimensions
The new 2024 Maruti Swift gets numerous updates to the exterior styling. At the front, the fascia now bears a larger grille finished in glass black material in a honeycomb pattern, the logo is now placed higher up, the LED headlamp cluster bears a new design, the L-shaped LED DRLs are integrated into the headlamp console, the fog lamps are positioned at the traditional location and the bumper gets a sporty appearance. Moving down the sides, you get greeted by new 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels which enhance the look.
Apart from that, the door handles have now been pushed back to the traditional location instead of on the side pillars. There is a characteristic crease which runs the length of the door panel. The side pillars are black and the new Swift gets body-coloured ORVMs. Concluding the exterior description, we move on to the rear section. It gets a modern LED taillamp design, rear wiper, washer, defogger, high-mount stop lamp, a sporty bumper, reverse parking camera on the boot lid and more. All in all, there are enough new elements to tell it apart from the outgoing model.

Interior Space and Features
The new Maruti Swift also comes with tons of enhancements inside the cabin. Essentially, it has borrowed the layout and amenities from the Baleno premium hatchback which is only a good thing. The increased length ensures that the cabin is big enough for passengers to sit comfortably. Apart from that, even the boot compartment is deep which swallows large suitcases. Hence, going on a journey with the family with heavy luggage will not be an issue. The main highlights of the cabin of the new Swift include:
- A 9-inch Touchscreen Infotainment Display
- SmartPlay Pro+ Suzuki Connect Functions
- A Part-Digital Instrument Cluster with Coloured MID

- Automatic AC with Physical Toggle Switches

2024 Maruti Swift Specs & Mileage
The biggest change in the new 2024 Maruti Swift comes in the form of the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine with a 12V mild hybrid system. It replaces the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K Series mill. Interestingly, the new engine makes 60 kW (82 PS) and 112 Nm which is 8 PS and 1 Nm less than the K Series engine. However, the new mill offers an incredible 25.75 kmpl of mileage in AMT and 24.8 kmpl in manual version. That is the most enticing element for most customers. Remember, most Indian car buyers value mileage and low running costs over just about everything else. Also, there are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic gearbox.
Specs | 2024 Maruti Swift |
Engine | 1.2-litre 3-Cyl Z Series |
Power | 82 PS |
Torque | 112 Nm |
Transmission | 5MT / AMT |
Mileage | 25.75 kmpl (AMT) / 24.8 kmpl (MT) |

Safety & NCAP Rating
Another key aspect that could popularize the new Swift is the availability of 6 airbags as standard across the range. We know that Maruti has not had ideal crash test ratings for more of its cars. As new customers become more conscious of the safety ratings and features, the largest carmaker in the country is definitely working on that front. As a matter of fact, the Japanese-spec model recently bagged an impressive 4-star rating at the JNCAP. While it might come with ADAS functions, the body structure and passive safety equipment are almost the same in the Indian version too. Therefore, I expect this new Swift to score well on the Bharat NCAP going forward. The top safety features incorporate:
- 6 Airbags
- ABS with EBD
- Traction Control
- ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts
- Electronic Stability Program
- Hill Hold Assist
- Seat Belt Reminder for Front and Rear Seats
- Security Alarm System (Door & Hood)
Colours
The 2024 Maruti Swift is being offered in multiple monotone and dual tone colour options. The dual-tone version will offer a black roof with some of these monotone paint shades. These include:
- Sizzling Red
- Luster Blue
- Novel Orange
- Magma Grey
- Splendid Silver
- Pearl Arctic White
- Sizzling Red with Midnight Black Roof
- Luster Blue with Midnight Black Roof
- Pearl Arctic White with Midnight Black Roof
Our View
The new 2024 Maruti Swift comes with rather comprehensive updates when it comes to the powertrain along with decent improvements in styling and cabin comfort and features. What is typical of Maruti Suzuki is that it has not increased the prices steeply. There is just a relatively minor bump in the retail sticker especially considering that there is an entirely new engine which offers substantially more mileage in manual, as well as AMT variant. Now, we just have to wait to see how well the customers embrace the new hatchback.
