The 2024 iteration of the Maruti Swift has been spied again. The reports about the new Swift making it to our markets have been out for a long time. Remember, we already have the new Swift on sale in Japan, the UK and Ireland. India is a massive market for Suzuki. Furthermore, Swift has been among the most successful models from the Japanese car marque in India. Hence, it was only a matter of time before we experienced the new Swift on our roads. As per a claim from a vlogger, we will see the 2024 Swift facelift launch on April 15. However, please note there’s no official confirmation from the carmaker. So, let’s take such claims with a pinch of salt.
2024 Maruti Swift Exterior & Interior
This video comes from Harsh VLOGS on YouTube. The vlogger brings us the videos of the new Swift testing on the road. It carries LED DRLs, an LED headlamp cluster, a new alloy wheel design, a similar silhouette to the existing model, a sporty bumper, a slightly curvaceous bonnet, a rear wiper, a roof-mounted spoiler, a traditional antenna, LED taillamps and more. In the latter part of the video, Swift appears in the sans camouflage avatar. Overall, the design will be fresh but not too far away from the existing model.
The cabin of the 2024 Maruti Swift facelift will likely sport more changes than the external profile. First and foremost, the touchscreen display will be significantly larger in the new Swift. We might be looking at something around 10-inch. Apart from that, the dashboard layout and the design of AC vents and door panels will be new as well. It will continue to get the same steering wheel as the current model with controls for multimedia and cruise control. A prominent addition to the new Swift will be the 360-degree camera. That will make manoeuvring the vehicle in tight spaces convenient and easy.
There are different speculations about which powertrain will the new Swift carry. In Japan, there is a strong hybrid mill on offer which offers some 35 km/l mileage. However, due to cost constraints, we don’t think that engine will make it to the Indian-spec version. Also, we know that Maruti is planning a departure from the existing K-Series engine. Hence, the new Swift could come with a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-Series mild hybrid mill. Some reports also suggest that it could carry the existing mill for the time being and introduce the new engine at a later stage. In any case, we shall know the full details soon.
Author’s Note
Maruti Swift is an iconic name in the Indian automobile industry. It has been around since 2005. Even after 19 years of existence, the demand for the hatchback is at an all-time high. That is a testament to the love people possess for the Swift. To be fair, Maruti Suzuki has kept updating the Swift from time to time to keep it fresh and exciting. This latest facelift will be in line with that approach of always keeping the Swift fresh and aspirational.
