The 7-seater SUV has been due for a facelift for a long time now.
The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift has been spied testing on the highway. Alcazar, for the uninitiated, is the 7-seat version of the mighty popular Creta. In fact, the Creta has been the highest-selling mid-size SUV in our market in the last few years. Since it received a thorough facelift a couple of months ago, it should ideally reflect in the Alcazar as well. That is what makes even the Alcazar so popular. It comes with all the strengths of the Creta and adds the practicality of being a 7-seater. Hence, the customers get an even more practical version of the Creta. Let us take a look at the details here.

These images are doing rounds on the internet. The heavily camouflaged SUV appears at what looks like a toll plaza. The side profile of the SUV leads us to believe that this silhouette is similar to the Alcazar. In most facelift models, the overall demeanour and silhouette of a car remain the same. Only the front and rear bumpers, headlights, grilles, etc., get slightly tweaked details. In this case, the alloy wheel design is partially visible. But it will most likely share its exterior styling with the Creta. Even on the inside, the new Alcazar is bound to get modern connectivity and convenience amenities.
Specs
What excites me the most is what Hyundai will offer under the hood of the Alcazar. Note that previously, there was a new 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine exclusively available with the Alcazar. However, at present, there is an option to choose between either a 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol engine, which generates a healthy 160 PS and 253 Nm, or a 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill, which produces 116 PS and 250 Nm of peak power and torque. People can choose between either a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT, or an automatic transmission. I expect it to carry forward these powertrains even with the 2024 facelift avatar.

Author’s Note
Hyundai has been the second-largest carmaker in India for years now. It offers products in all major segments of our market. Its Creta has been immensely popular. Leveraging its success, the Korean auto giant introduced the 7-seat version, the Alcazar, in 2021. It has been doing fairly well on the sales charts ever since its launch. Going forward, as the competition in this segment gets fiercer, it makes sense to update the current model. More details will appear closer to the launch.
