Drag race competitions are performed by YouTubers to test the capabilities of popular cars and this is the latest example of it.
Here is a drag race competition between the 2023 Hyundai Verna and VW Virtus. The new Verna is the latest entrant in the premium mid-size sedan segment in our market. It has been thoroughly updated by the Korean carmaker in terms of aesthetics, cabin and powertrain. On the other hand, the Virtus continues to be a popular choice for all those who admire the driving dynamics of the German carmaker. But this drag race throws up some interesting results. Here are the details.

VW Virtus vs 2023 Hyundai Verna Drag Race
The video has been uploaded by Pratham Shokeen on YouTube. He takes the 1.5-litre turbo petrol automatic variants of both these cars and performs a drag race with multiple rounds in various settings. For the first round, the team puts both cars in Comfort mode and turns off the AC. On the count of three, the drag race commences where the Virtus takes the lead from the beginning. However, we are not sure if the driver of the Virtus started the race a bit early (it looks like that). In any case, Verna was able to catch the Virtus midway and ended up winning the round.

For the subsequent rounds, the team turned both the cars into their sportiest settings and kept the AC off. It was observed that the Virtus almost always took the lead from the start (it looks intentional) but the 2023 Verna was able to overtake it every time. This can easily be attributed to the fact that Verna is the more powerful of the two and is slightly lighter than Virtus which played in its favour. The YouTuber acknowledges this and praises Verna even though he is evidently biased toward his Virtus.
