Known as the Ford Endeavour in India, the last-generation Ford Everest enjoys a huge fan following here. But with Ford India ceasing operations, we have no hopes of getting the new 2023 model
The 2023 Ford Everest has been launched in Dubai, UAE. The American auto giant has given a comprehensive update to Everest, a spacious 7-seat SUV. This model showcases Ford’s contemporary design language and upgraded interior features. Notably, the recently revamped Everest has gained significant success in diverse international markets. It has been available in various international markets for a while now. Ford is no longer available in India for us to hope to buy the new Endy. However, finally, the car buyers in the UAE will also be able to get their hands on the eminent SUV. Let me take you through the details here.

Ford Everest Launched in Dubai
As I said, what you and I remember as the Endeavour was actually known as the Everest everywhere else. In India, the prices were around Rs 38 lakh for the top model back in the day. Meanwhile, the new generation costs AED 199,395 (approx INR 45 lakh) in UAE. Please note that this is still cheaper than what we would have to shell out for a top-spec Fortuner over here. The new 3-row SUV even gets more features than the Indian Fortuner. It has an 8-way manual driver seat, 4-way adjustable passenger seat, 6 airbags, a colossal 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display, premium B&O 12-Speaker audio system, 8-inch LCD instrument cluster, wireless charging, 21-inch alloy wheels (optional), dual-zone automatic climate control, electrochromic inside rearview mirror, leather material in the cabin, dual-panel sunroof, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera, and more.

Specs
The last-get Ford Endeavour was initially available to us with 2.2-litre and a 3.2-litre turbo-diesel engine options. Both these motors gave way to a 2.0-litre oil-burner with a never-heard-before 10-speed automatic. Over at the UAE, though, things are a lot different. Unlike us, the car buyers of UAE aren’t inclined towards diesels. So, the 2023 Ford Everest comes with a potent 2.3-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost turbo petrol engine generating 296 hp and 420 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission duties are carried by a 10-speed automatic transmission. There is a dedicated 4×4 configuration enabling off-roading capabilities. There are front and rear tow hooks which is an essential tool to get out of precarious situations. This even helps pull other cars out of their predicaments during off-roading adventures.

What We Think
Like me, there are many Ford fans in India who love this SUV. In fact, it was among the most successful 7-seat off-roaders in our market. The only worthy rival is the Toyota Fortuner. However, after Ford quit manufacturing cars in India, Toyota is offering the Fortuner in multiple variants. The prices have crossed Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom. It would have been interesting to see if the prices of the Endeavour would also have been the same had it been present in India today. In any case, the fact that the new Endeavour/Everest is launching in various international markets surely makes us miss it a lot.
