Maruti Suzuki is continuing its onslaught with updated products being launched at regular intervals. The Crossover SUV could see a facelift pretty soon as well.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross designer, Katsuya Kotoda, explains the design of the updated crossover SUV that could also be seen on the Indian version. S-Cross belongs to a segment of its own with no other direct rival in the form of a crossover SUV. That is also its appeal and USP. But the facelift for the standalone product is due for quite some time now. The International model has received a few updates and it may be possible that this version makes it to our shores.

Updated Maruti S-Cross Design
While the overall dimensions might not change much from the existing version, the alterations to the design seem quite significant. The headlights are quite sleek and modern with a 3 lamp setup. The highlight at the front is the piano black grille with chrome slab at the centre, upright bonnet for that SUV-ish stance, and silver skid plate. The aim is to make it more of an SUV with a bold exterior and unique styling.

The side profile of this S-Cross features squared wheel arches with black cladding, stylish allow wheels and blacked-out side pillars. The tail end of the S-Cross is quite different from what we see on the current model. It features a scooped out and raised taillights section that is connected using a piano black panel to give an impression of a higher centre of gravity. The integrated roof spoiler at the rear completes the sporty appearance of the crossover SUV.

Specs
With the Ertiga and XL6 now available with the new-gen K-Series 1.5-litre petrol engine, there is no reason why the updated S-Cross will not feature it as well. It produces 103 PS and 137 Nm of peak power and torque. There is a progressive smart hybrid technology complementing this engine. The transmission duties will most likely be carried by a 5-speed manual or an updated 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The prices of the current model range between Rs 8.95 lakh and Rs 12.92 lakh, ex-showroom. The updated version would add a slight premium to these.
