Slated to launch soon, the 2022 Maruti Brezza will feature more safety features and new styling along with providing better mileage
Until recently, the Maruti Vitara Brezza was the undisputed leader of the B-SUV segment. While it’s now less popular than the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd looks all set to roll out the second generation model that should come across as a comprehensive update over the current model. Slated to be known simply as the new Maruti Brezza 2022, the new model was recently caught sans camouflage by our friends at Rushlane. From the looks of it, the sighting took place whilst the new car’s TVC was being shot in the Cyber City area of Gurgaon.

New Maruti Brezza 2022 Design
Visually, the 2022 Maruti Brezza won’t be a radical departure from the current model. While its overall silhouette will be similar, the styling package will be more modern to help the new model look as fresh as any of its rivals. The front fascia will be completely unlike that of the outgoing model. It will feature smaller headlamps and a bigger bumper. The most significant change will come in the form of a new grille horizontal chrome slats. The bumper has a bolder look, while the headlamps feature twin DRLs that even double up as turn indicators.
The red car that was spied recently featured new 16-inch alloy wheels in machine-cut finish. The top-spec variant will feature them as standard. The rear-end will be largely different from the current car’s posterior as there will be a redesigned tailgate along with sleeker tail lamps and a chunkier bumper.
2022 Maruti Brezza Interior Features
While the interior of the new Brezza wasn’t seen during the recent sighting, earlier spy pics show a more modern cabin with a fresh design. The dashboard looks a fair bit like that of the latest-gen S-Cross sold abroad. The highlight here will is the free-standing touchscreen unit that will run the latest Suzuki infotainment OS. The touchscreen unit will be shared with the latest-gen Baleno. Even the features list will be largely similar but what will set the Brezza apart will be the electric sunroof. With this, the new Maruti Brezza 2022 will become the only car in its company’s portfolio to provide this feature.

Specs
Unlike what was being speculated, the 2022 Maruti Brezza won’t be based on the HEARTECT platform. Instead, it will share the Global C platform with the outgoing model, possibly, with some revisions. Our sources reveal that the carmaker is targeting a full 5-star Global NCAP score for its upcoming offering. Even the current model boasts of a respectable 4-star score, thereby being the safest offering from MSIL.

The engine and transmission combination won’t be much different from the current model. The 1.5-litre petrol engine will be retained with Dual VVT and DualJet setup along with Progressive Smart Hybrid. This is the same engine that even powers the latest Ertiga and XL6. The motor outputs 101.6PS and 136.8Nm, which is slightly lesser than what the current motor offers. However, the revised motor offers a higher refinement and is a much smoother unit. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with steering-mounted paddle shifts. In all likelihood, a CNG variant will be offered.
