Details of the next-generation Maruti Baleno have revealed that the upcoming car will get the 1.5-ltr Engine from Brezza.
The next-gen Maruti Baleno is one of the most-awaited cars of 2022. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is now busy preparing a comprehensive facelift for its hot-selling hatchback. Several visuals of the upcoming car’s revised aesthetics have emerged online. Now, our inside sources at MSIL have revealed that the top-spec trim of the Baleno will get an optional 1.5-ltr K-series petrol engine from Brezza with exactly the same specs. The premium hatchback is also expected to cost more than the current-gen Baleno that retails in a price range of Rs 5.99 – Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the likes of Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and the Tata Altroz. Here’s all we know about the 2022 Maruti Baleno Facelift:

On the outside, the 2022 Maruti Baleno will come with a larger and wider grille (extending into the headlamp assembly). The newly designed fog lamp housings will be paired with new headlamps (with an L-shaped wraparound design). There is a new chrome lining around the glasshouse that curves upwards around the rear quarter glass area. The rear panel also gets sleeker L-shaped tail-lamps, a newly designed tailgate, and a reprofiled rear bumper. Overall, the hatchback features a wider central air intake on the front and looks a lot sharper than the current curvy version.

Under the hood, the 2022 Maruti Baleno will continue to draw power from the 1.2-litre K-series engine that powers the current model. However, the top-spec Alpha trim will be made available with a 1.5-liter K-Series petrol engine option. This motor produces 103bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Basically, this the same engine as the Maruti Vitara Brezza. It will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission with Smart Hybrid technology. The current version comes with a 83bhp 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine which will continue unchanged. For transmission, you can choose between a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes.

Additionally, the interior of the new Maruti Baleno will also be completely overhauled. It is said to feature an all-new dashboard with a layered design and a 9-inch free-standing touchscreen. The new infotainment system will come with an on-board SIM for a suite of connected car features (real-time tracking, intrusion detection, tow away alert, find your car, geofencing, etc). The Maruti Baleno is one of the most spacious cars in its segment. However, the new model is expected to get better quality of the material for interiors. Additional features will include cruise control, automated headlamps, automated wipers, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a new instrument cluster, a revised MID, new switchgear for the climate controls, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and sleeker AC vents (positioned horizontally below the infotainment screen).
