Now, finally, the upcoming premium small car has actually been teased by the carmaker along with officially announcing the opening of the bookings. 2022 Maruti Baleno Exterior and Interior
The Baleno has been almost unchanged since it first went on sale in 2015. It did get a small nip and tuck around a couple of years ago but nothing that would help it look much fresher than the original model. This time around, though, it will offer a totally revised front and rear fascia. Up front, it will get a wider grille along with sleeker headlights. Even the bumper will be new. At the rear, the bootlid and bumper would see revisions and even the taillights will be updated.
The interior would look completely new due to a new dashboard styled in accordance with the company’s latest theme seen on the new-gen S-Cross. The current steering wheel, which is shared with models like the Ciaz, will be replaced with a flat-bottom unit from the Maruti Swift. There will also be many new features such as a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charger, 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control and HUD. It’s being said that the car will be a lot safer than before due to usage of thicker grade steel and an enhanced platform.

Specs
There are reports that the new 2022 Maruti Baleno will be available with an optional K15 1.5-litre petrol engine from the Brezza but what’s for certain is that the current 1.2-litre Dualjet Dual-VVT engine will be carried over. This engine makes 90PS and 113Nm. However, unlike the CVT option of the current model, the updated version will come with an AMT. This will help Maruti Suzuki price the car competitively. Also, the fuel-saving SHVS mild-hybrid tech will be carried over to the new model.
Speaking on the 2022 Maruti Baleno, Mr. CV Raman, Chief Technical Officer (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Launched in 2015, the Baleno has been a trendsetter with its bold design, premium interiors and convenient features. The New Age Baleno, equipped with modern technology, advanced features and the NEXA signature “Crafted Futurism” design language ushers in a new dawn of connectivity in the premium hatchback segment. While working on the New Age Baleno, we have laid a special focus on the use of modern technologies that will excite the customer while also ensuring a safer and more convenient drive. The New Age Baleno is aligned with Maruti Suzuki’s larger mission of introducing newer technologies across segments.”
