Merely days after Maruti Suzuki teased the Heads Up Display (HUD) unit of the 2022 Baleno, it has come up with a new video that reveals another important feature of the upcoming car. With this, it’s now well-established that the 2022 Maruti Baleno will feature a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment unit that will replace the current model’s 7-inch SmartPlay Studio unit.

2022 Maruti Baleno Features and Safety
The 9-inch High Definition touchscreen SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment unit will even feature Surround Sense driver from ARKAMYS for an enhanced aural experience. Other than this, the new unit should offer wireless connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The changes won’t stop here as the interior will feature plenty of other new features like a wireless smartphone charger, coloured MID, flat-bottom steering wheel that will come from the Dzire and a new automatic aircon unit. The fully-loaded model is even expected to offer 6 airbags for enhanced passive safety.
Speaking of the safety on offer, it’s being said that Maruti could be aiming at achieving a full 5-star score at Global NCAP, which will be made possible through thicker sheetmetal and a strengthened platform. However, so far there have been no confirmation of the same. It is noteworthy that the Baleno has been receiving flak for mediocre crash worthiness, especially when viewed in comparison with the Tata Altroz (5-star Global NCAP)> More information about the safety rating is expected to be revealed in the run up to the launch.

Specs
There was initially a rumour that the tio-spec version of the 2022 Maruti Baleno would be available with an optional 1.5-litre K-series petrol unit from the Brezza but same might not be true. However, it’s pretty much for sure that the current 1.2-litre DualJet Dual-VVT unit will be carried over, probably, with minor tweaks to make up for the increased weight. In its current state of tune, this engine outputs a maximum power of 90PS along with a peak torque of 113 Nm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Also, to keep the selling price competitive, the carmaker will likely ditch the CVT option in favour of an AMT unit. Styling changes will include new lights front and rear along with tweaked bumpers and grille, The side profile, though, will stay unchanged. Inside, the dashboard will be completely new and will hold the floating-type 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen unit. The new car will be sold in six colour options, out of which at least two will be new to the colour palette.
