2022 Mahindra Scorpio To Rival Tata Harrier?
The recently leaked images give us a clear look at the front, side and rear of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio. The visuals are in line with the teaser claiming the vehicle to be quite large. We had previously caught the test mule of the Scorpio parked alongside a Ford Endeavour. It did look a lot bigger than the existing model. The visuals clearly show that the new Scorpio will have C-shaped LED DRLs placed around the fog lamp unit on the bumper. At the front, the large grille with vertical slats will have chrome inserts and the tall bonnet will establish its SUV credentials.

The side profile of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will sport an updated design theme of the XUV500 with sloping quarter glass with an underlying chrome belt, blacked-out side pillars, chrome door handles, functional roof rails, silver side body cladding, elegant alloy wheels, chrome garnish at the rear bumper, skid plate and attractive rear section. We won’t be surprised if Mahindra ends up making it that big to pose a second challenger to the mid-size SUV segment after the XUV700.

Specs
While the official specifications will be revealed closer to the launch, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio is expected to come powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that might be tuned to produce 130 hp and a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine that produces 150 hp. These engines are similar to the ones powering the new Thar. The transmission duties would be carried by a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The current prices of the Scorpio range between Rs 13.18 lakh and Rs 18.21 lakh, ex-showroom. The new version will most likely feature a slight premium over these prices. The most likely debut date is June 20, 2022.
