The cost of the base model of 2022 Mahindra Scorpio has been revealed by our dealer source. According to this information, the starting price of the petrol variant would be R 14.50 lakh, while the diesel range would start from Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom. Currently, the diesel model of the Scorpio is priced at Rs 13.54 lakh, ex-showroom. The difference in the starting price is under Rs 1.50 lakh, which is quite impressive.

2022 Mahindra Scorpio N Base Model Cost
Considering that the new Scorpio boasts of myriad modern features, design cues, powertrain options, etc, the increment in the price is not that significant. Also, Mahindra has announced that the new model will keep selling alongside the current-get model, which will be renamed the Scorpio Classic. The silhouette of the Scorpio N has dropped the tall SUV stance and embraced the more urban SUV layout giving a clear indication of the inspiration from the discontinued XUV500. The exterior is heavily inspired by the XUV500 but there are a ton of bold modern bits on the outside to make it look like a vehicle from 2022.

On the inside, the story is similar. 2022 Mahindra Scorpio N introduces a completely new cabin with all the bells and whistles. It is miles apart from the traditionally utilitarian Scorpio moniker. The leaked interior images showed that the upholstery is brown in colour, along with the central armrest between the front seats, there are controls on the steering wheel, the centre console holds the large infotainment screen along with physical buttons for climate control, multimedia, etc, there are cup holders between the front seats and a little open area in front of the gear lever.

The exact specs of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be revealed only at the time of the official debut but it looks like the new SUV will share its engines and transmissions with the Thar. The entry-level diesel engine variant will offer 130 PS with a 2WD format but the higher variants could offer 150 PS with an optional 4WD. The petrol variant will be sold with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine that will produce 150 PS. In all likelihood, the petrol version will be available only in 2WD format. Transmission choices for both the engine variants will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic unit.
