2022 Honda CR-V concept patent design has surfaced on the internet. The CR-V was discontinued in the Indian market recently due to the BS6 transition and low demand for the premium SUV. The CR-V was one of the first 5-seat premium SUVs in India and did witness quite a few buyers. At the time, it was considered an aspirational vehicle. It came with high-quality interiors, premium comfort and convenience features and powerful engines. The CR-V was large and had a road presence, something that the Indian customers adore. But as the competition crept up in the mid-size SUV segment after the arrival of Creta and subsequently the likes of Seltos, Harrier, Hector and more.

Carmakers like Mahindra, Tata, MG and Hyundai started offering 7-seat configuration in mid-size SUV space with products like XUV500, Safari, Hector Plus and Alcazar respectively. Hence, products like the Honda CR-V started losing their appeal. The transition to BS6 was also not exactly cheap. To make such big diesel engines road-worthy in accordance with the latest emission norms would’ve cost a ton of money, essentially driving the prices way up. Hence, Honda decided to pull the plug on CR-V along with the premium sedan, Civic last year. But now, the patent images have leaked online and here are our thoughts on it.

2022 Honda CR-V – Exterior Details
From these images, one can clearly recognize the resemblance to the latest design language of the Japanese auto giant. It leans towards this modern sleek LED headlamp pattern with unique design elements along with a sleek LED DRL unit above the headlamps. The centre is occupied by a large and thick chrome slab that connects the headlamps. Below it sits the massive front grille to give the front an aggressive appearance. Being a massive SUV, it also sports chunky bumpers with LED fog lamps on either side. To bonnet line is upright and provides a strong stance to the SUV.

The side profile is accentuated by the modern bits like the chrome beltline surrounding the windows, chunky wheel arches, large alloy wheels, side door cladding and large overhangs. The sunroof and shark fin antenna are also a part of exterior styling details. Coming to the rear, the roof-mounted spoiler, wrap around stylish LED tail lamps connected by a thick chrome bar are the highlights. Apart from that, the rear bumpers are also sporty and feature cladding to highlight that SUV-ish design.
