Volkswagen Vento has been around in our market for a long time now. In its current avatar, it is essentially an elongated version of the Polo. But that might well change with the new sedan, which VW will launch sometime this year. This new car will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform. This will lend a much bigger dimension to the car. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the new Vento will be bigger than the outgoing model in terms of everything. This will translate into cabin space as well. We can expect a much roomier cabin with better rear-seat comfort. Let us take a look at what to expect from this upcoming model.

2021 Volkswagen Vento – Exterior
It is expected that the design elements of the newer 2021 Vento will take cues from the Virtus from the South American market. A length of about 4.4m and wheelbase of about 2.6, will ensure that the sedan is at par in dimensions with the competition. Although this will be a new model developed especially for our market, it will carry on the typical design language of the VW family. There will be sharp creases all around just like all other models of VW. The rear might get new tail lamps like that of the last-gen Passat.
2021 Volkswagen Vento – Interior
The interior design will not be anything dramatic at all. VW has always been relatively simplistic in terms of the interior design of their vehicles, especially in India. This is not expected to change with this model either. Although, the quality will surely be top-notch. The new 2021 Volkswagen Vento will surely come with a larger Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Digital Instrument Cluster, Steering-mounted Controls, Cruise Control and plenty of safety kit. The boot space will also be decent. Overall, the interior will be sophisticated and relatively simple, as compared to some of the modern cars.

2021 Volkswagen Vento – Engine and Transmission
VW has introduced its TSI engines in India for all of its products. These are the modern turbo petrol engines with direct injection technology. There are 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre engine options. We expect that the new Vento will come with a 1.0-litre TSI engine making 110PS and 175Nm. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. There might be the more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine for the higher-spec variant. If VW decides to do that or not remains to be seen.

2021 Volkswagen Vento – Price and Competition
The new Volkswagen Vento is expected to launch in the latter half of this year. The new platform means, essentially a new car from the ground up. This will incur a higher cost and the expected prices for the new Vento will between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom. As far as the competition is concerned, Vento will compete with the likes of Verna, Ciaz, City, and its cousin Rapid. It is a competitive segment with Verna and City being the most popular cars for a long time. Will this be model have enough features and tech to overthrow the leaders? We will find out this year.
