For the international markets, the updated 2021 Volkswagen has been revealed today. This marks the sixth generation of Polo internationally with an update. The German carmaker has been bringing the Polo closer to the Gold, sold in the international market and this time around the resemblance to its elder siblings is more prominent. There are various changes to this updated version of the sixth-generation VW Polo and we will look at all these in detail. While VW has been tight-lipped about updating the decade-old version of the Polo in our market, it will in interesting to see if this particular model makes it to our shores anytime soon. If that were the case, it will be tweaked to fit on the MQB A0 IN platform that has been specifically built for India by Volkswagen and Skoda under their India 2.0 strategy for our market.

From the outside, the Polo has seen some significant changes to its appearance. It is more in line with the Gold now and features, new sleek Matrix LED headlamps, with DRLs and an LED strip running across the width of the car joining the headlamps, sleek and aggressive new front grille, a sportier blacked-out bumper and wider air dams to make it appear wider than it actually is. On the sides, the new alloy wheels are similar to the ones on the Gold and look fresh. VW has continued with the sharp and clutter-free creases on the sides with this update as before. Overall, it has come quite a long way from the fifth-gen Polo in terms of appearance.

2021 Volkswagen Polo- Engines and Transmissions
The one thing that has remained the same on this updated Polo and the outgoing Polo is what is under the hood. The VW Polo still comes with a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre or a turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol TSI engine making either 82 hp pr 110 hp respectively. The transmission duties are carried by either a manual or an automatic gearbox. It will be interesting to see if VW decides to introduce this update Polo in our market because the one currently on sale is a decade old. Although VW has been focusing on SUVs at the moment, the MQB A0 IN platform does lend itself quite well if VW wants to develop next-gen Polo in India. The reports of the updated Vento are already out which will be based on this very platform. We can only hope that Volkswagen finally updates the decade-old Polo after the launch of the Taigun in our market.
