Some reports suggest that Toyota Corolla Altis might not see the light of 2020. It is because of the high cost of upgrading the BS4 engines to the new emission norms which will set its foot in April 2020.
Another important reason for driving out the Corolla from the Indian markets for good is because of the low sales. The Altis is sold in 1.8L petrol and 1.4L diesel engines and the sales of both have been declining for long.
Currently, the Toyota Corolla is priced at Rs 16.44 lakh for the base trim and the top model sees a price tag of Rs 20.19 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with the likes of Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and the recently launched Hyundai Elantra facelift.
