Tata Altroz makes a debut in the premium hatchback segment, to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno, Polo, Elite i20, Jazz and Glanza.
A new premium hatchback from another Indian manufacturer makes its way in the market. Tata Motors has finally launched the Altroz in India. The bookings for the hatchback are already ongoing and the deliveries will also commence by next month.
The price of Tata Altroz starts off at Rs 5.29 Lakhs up to Rs 9.29 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Here is a detailed variant wise price list of the Tata Altroz:

Tata Altroz gets BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. It uses a 1.2 Litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine from the Tiago. The motor produces 86 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5 Litre diesel engine from Nexon is used, producing 90 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque.

As of now, both the engines get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. In future, Tata will introduce automatic gearbox for the Altroz. It might also get the Tiago JTP’s 1.2 Litre turbo-petrol engine later this year.

Safety features include Dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Rear parking sensors, ISOFIX, Cornering lights, Rear Parking Camera With Guidelines and Auto Headlamps. Also, the hatchback recently received a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. So, it is basically the safest hatchback in India.

Talking about the dimensions, the Altroz is 3990mm long, 1755mm wide and 1523mm tall. Altroz gets a ground clearance of 165mm and its wheelbase is 2501mm long. The kerb weight of the hatchback is between 1036 kgs to 1150 kgs, depending on the variant.
Rivalling the likes of Tata Altroz, we have Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Ford Freestyle. Amongst all, i20 is the only one to receive a major upgrade this year.
