The next-gen Octavia will ditch the split headlight design for a more sleeker single-unit headlamps cluster.
A fourth-generation Octavia is in the works and Skoda has recently revealed the design details of the sedan which is expected to debut in 2020. Mind you, the Octavia is the best selling sedan from the Skoda.
Skoda has revealed the sketches of the 2020 Octavia which takes its design inspiration from the elder sibling, Superb. The overall silhouette of the sedan remains the same but the front and rear profile will be different.
For starters, the front fascia will ditch the split headlight design which we can see in the on-going model for the basic single headlamp cluster. It is expected to get LED treatment and also the grille is now larger than before.

It will also get a new front bumper, which has a more sharpened look and the car gets sharp lines all over the body. The overall sketch reveals an aggressive design for the new Octavia.
At the side, chrome surround can be seen around the windows and a strong shoulder line. The rear too sees a new bumper, a new slimmer taillight design which replaces the boxy one.
One more interesting bit about the side is the sloping roof line which wraps around with the spoiler which is barely seen. And without saying it further, yes, the new-gen Octavia will receive new alloy wheel design and we expect the size of the tyre to be upsized too.
The 2020 Octavia will sit on the updated MQB platform and hence will grow in dimensions. Further reports also suggest that the Octavia might use a good amount of lightweight metal which reduces the weight by 50 kgs or more. For this, we just have to wait for the debut of the 2020 Octavia.

Not much is known about the cabin of the premium sedan but some spy shots reveal information like the presence of a virtual digital instrument cluster, two spoke steering wheel and more. It will also receive a floating touchscreen infotainment system which will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Several other features might be added with the 2020 sedan.
There will be multi engine options for the Skoda Octavia in the international markets like 1.0L, 1.5L, 2.0L turbocharged petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine. Also, a plug-in hybrid engine is also in the works.
Regardless of all the engine options present globally, for the Indian markets, we expect a BS6 compliant 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine along with a 1.5-litre TSI unit with a 48-V hybrid system. A 6-speed manual or a DSG gearbox will be available for the transmission duty.
We can expect the new Octavia to be seen at the 2020 Auto Expo. Once launched it will take on the likes of Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic. It currently sells at a price tag of Rs 16 lakh – Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the new model will see a premium over the current one.
