The upcoming SUV will come with new features and packs a total of five engine options – two petrol and three diesel engines.
The 2020 Mercedes GLE is a much-awaited car for India from German manufacturers. And we can say that the spy shot caught gives us a clear idea that the launch is likely to happen in the coming months.
The upcoming SUV will replace the current-gen GLE and packs modern design and features. The 2020 Mercedes GLE which was caught in India was sitting on 19-inch optional alloy wheels which comes from the AMG line setup.
Going by the spy shot, the front bumpers, twin-slat grille mostly looked from the standard line. The front and rear of the SUV were camouflaged which pretty much hid the variant of the vehicle.

The black SUV was caught doing the ARAI test for the emissions. It is safe to say that it will carry a BS6 compliant engine. Another car from Mercedes, the E Class has already received the upgraded engine to fair with the upcoming emission norms.
Talking about the engine options then the SUV gets three diesel and two petrol engines. The diesel comprises of 300 d and 350 d and 400 d trims which churns out 245 bhp, 272 bhp and 330 bhp respectively.
The petrol engine comprises of 350 and a 450 trim. The GLE 350 pulls out 255 bhp from a 2.0-litre, four cylinder engine. The bigger one, GLE 450 produces a whopping 367 bhp from a 3.0-litre V6 motor which also comes with a mild hybrid technology.
Transmission onboard includes a 9-speed automatic gearbox for every engine and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. It is expected that Mercedes will bring out the diesel engines first followed by the petrol ones.
Coming to the features, then the upcoming SUV borrows design from new-age Mercedes cars. It gets twin 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and other for the infotainment system India spec version will also see panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Burmester Sound system and among others.

The SUV once launched in India will compete with the likes of BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. It is expected to see a price range of Rs 70 lakh for the base trim and top model will fetch you around for Rs 1.05 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
