The new 2020 Mercedes GLC 43 AMG features a host of styling updates, new features on the interiors and more power from the 3.0L, V6 engine as well.
Mercedes Benz has unveiled the new GLC 43 AMG facelift for both the coupe and the SUV internationally, for 2020. This facelift for the GLC 43 AMG is as comprehensive as facelifts get. The new car gets revised styling which is now in line with its bigger brother, the GLC 63 AMG. It also gets upgrades to the engine and interior equipments and softwares as well. Let’s look at it in a little more detail.
This being an AMG, let’s start with the heart of this Mercedes. The 2020 Mercedes GLC 43 AMG uses the same 3.0-litre V6 engine that produces 385 bhp and 520 Nm of torque. Although torque figure remains the same, power has increased by 23 bhp. This comes from the use of a larger turbocharger which is now mounted closer to the engine for a swifter response and some software updates too. The engine is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox with rear biased 4-MATIC all-wheel drive system. The SUV can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 4.9 seconds.
Visually, the 2020 GLC 43 AMG looks much more handsome and mature than the previous one. The most distinct difference is the new vertical slat chrome grille found in all newer AMG models. It really suits the stance of the GLC well. The headlamps have been completely redesigned with new Mercedes ‘eyebrow’ DRLs. The airdams in the bumper have also been redesigned, and though they look more aggressive than before, they are not functional like in the bigger GLC 63 AMG. They only serve as air curtains redirecting air around the outside of the wheels.
The side profile remains largely the same but there are newly designed 19-inch wheels. You can also opt for bigger 20 or 21-inch wheels on the options list. Also, the accentuated side sill panels particularly give both the SUV and the Coupe a very striking look. At the rear, the GLC gets new LED tail lamps and a revised bumper with a diffuser and twin tailpipes on either sides.
On the interiors, the changes are not so many but a keen eye will notice the new AMG steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls. There’s also a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with three AMG-specific display styles of Classic, Sport or Supersport. Its linked with a new, larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system uses Mercedes’ latest version of the MBUX system which now recognizes voice commands very efficiently. You activate the system by saying ‘Hey Mercedes’ and it will do everything that you could ever need.
It also gets navigation with augmented reality and gesture controls as well. The sports seats and black trim on the interior with red contrast stitching looks very cool indeed. There are of course a lot of customization options available like interior color schemes which includes cranberry/black leather and magma grey/black leather and trim options as well.

The 2020 Mercedes GLC 43 AMG is expected to go on sale in the international market by the end of this year.
