The new-gen Mahindra Thar is the most anticipated SUV which is expected to be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo. And we have been giving you several spy shots of how the upcoming SUV will look like.
Earlier spy shots of the 2020 Mahindra Thar gave us details about the company fitted hard roof and flared out wheel arches. Now new spy shots provide us with the information that the SUV sits on 17-inch alloy wheels and sports LED Taillights.
The upcoming Thar takes inspiration from the Jeep’s grille upfront and 7-slat unit will be observed. Also, the car will be increased in dimensions, get premium fitments, wider bonnet will be observed.

In the pictures above, Mahindra Thar can be seen in production ready parts with new front and rear bumper design, re-positioned circular headlamps, new taillight unit and the updated engine.
New Mahindra Thar will come with an updated BS6 compliant engine. It is expected to get a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which will churn out 140 bhp of power on tap and 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option includes a 5-speed manual gearbox and an automatic transmission is likely to come too.
Also, this Thar will suffice the latest safety and crash test norms. The SUV will have standard safety measures like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, high speed alert system and seat belt reminders.
The new Thar will also use the body-on-ladder platform for better off-road performance. The Borwarner 4WD system and differential locking which likely to be continued. We can expect the manufacturer to provide better on-road experience with the New Mahindra Thar.

What’s new with the SUV is the revamped interior and a fresh new cabin. The Thar will host the latest technology, comfort and convenience features to differentiate from the discontinued model.
It will get a new touchscreen infotainment system which is expected to come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connected features. Also, the seat upholstery will be improved and a multi-function steering wheel can be observed too. Front power windows, contrat stitched seats, four speakers can be expected on the upcoming SUV too.
The prices of the new-gen Mahindra Thar is expected to see a certain increase in prices. And it is expected to see a price tag of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Its nearest competition is Force Gurkha and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
