The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger in proportions and will get a new 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
Mahindra established its image with the Scorpio and now come to 2020 Auto Expo, the SUV packs new design. Several spy shots of the same have been caught doing the rounds and now we have a rendered image of the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio.
We already showed you how the front fascia of the rendered image looks and now we have the rear-end of the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio. The SUV will retain its boxy silhouette but now looks bigger in dimensions. It will also be taller and wider thus accounting for more space on the inside. Currently, the on-going Scorpio measures 4,456 in length, 1,820 in width, 1995 mm in height and gets 2,680 mm of wheelbase.
The rendered image depicts an all-new taillight which could get LED treatment along with a fresh tailgate design. Also, the raked rear glass gives the SUV a contemporary touch and it gets a new rear bumper design. The Mahindra badging between the tailgate and the chrome strip sits above the number plate section.

Telling you what’s new for the upcoming SUV then it will be the interiors which will see a major overhaul. A new dashboard design along with a large touchscreen system can come to the rescue along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features.
Also, a new multi-function steering wheel, MID, gear knob and vertical ac vents could replace the horizontal vents. Most of the items will be borrowed from Mahindra’s Marazzo to keep the production cost low.
Under the hood, upcoming Mahindra Scorpio will get a BS6 compliant engine. The 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine will churn out 160 bhp from the current 140 bhp on offer. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The new engine is said to be 80kg lighter than the on-going 2.2-litre mHawk unit. An automatic transmission will be also on offer along with the all-wheel-drive system. Along with upgrading the Scorpio, Mahindra is also working on the next-gen Thar and XUV500 which will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
