Jeep Wrangler will ditch the powerful 2.2L oil burner engine and will sport the 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine instead. The latter produces 271 bhp with 400 Nm of torque.
According to a new report, Jeep will launch the 2020 Wrangler in India with only a petrol engine. The SUV is scheduled to launch on Aug 9. the company will ditch the diesel motor for the Indian market knowing the fact that how much popular the oil burner is among people in this segment.
If it is true then the 2020 Jeep Wrangler will come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor. It churns out 271 bhp of power with a peak torque of 400 Nm. The 2.2L diesel engine which generates 199 bhp puts out a torque of 450 Nm. Maybe, the oil burner won’t come initially but if the demand for the same increases it will be launched after a while.
There is a more powerful turbocharged 3.6-litre petrol engine too which produces 284 bhp and a healthy torque of 374 Nm. Transmission on board for both petrol and 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine sticks to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard and it also comes with a start-stop system.

Jeep has also said that they will launch the Wrangler on August 9 and will come in top-spec Rubicon trim which will be called as Moab in the Indian market. Internationally, the Moab is a whole off-road package but India spec trim will get some cosmetic changes only. These include blacked-out alloy wheels, decals on the side of the hood and off-road tyres are some of the highlights.
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler has been re-engineered fully as it sits on ladder frame chassis which is lighter than before. Dimension wise, the SUV has grown in length which allows more space on the interiors as well. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon gets additional 4×4 features than its other trims like front and rear locking differentials, front sway bar disconnect system and Rock Trac 4×4 system.
Design-wise the SUV gets round LED headlamps, LED tail lights with the signature seven-slat grille upfront. Its also very configurable in a number of unique ways in how you can set up the roof, remove the quarter panels, the doors, and tilt down the windscreen frame.

The cabin feels more plush with premium upholstery and the retro-themed style is kept in mind while giving modern facilities like a large touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with features like seats with adjustable bolster and lumbar support, passive keyless entry and among others.
Talking about the safety features, the SUV gets equipped with Hill-start Assist, Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Roll Mitigation, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Airbags and more such features as seen on the SUVs in this segment.
