The new 2020 Isuzu D-max features a completely new design language which is modern and fresh and is expected to be much more premium than the present version.
Isuzu has teased the next generation of the D-Max pick-up truck before of its global debut on the October 19, 2019. The second generation Isuzu D-Max has been around since 2011 and this new model will see a lot of changes, both visually and on the features front as well. The new 2020 Isuzu D-Max incorporates the ‘Infinite Potential’ theme which boasts of a completely new design language. However, it will continue to be based on a ladder frame chassis just like the present model.
As can be seen from the teaser video, the new D-Max gets a completely new face with a bolder single-frame grille that extends to the bottom. The headlights now are much slimmer than before and get a U-shaped LED DRL with projector units. The front bumpers too have been completely redesigned and feature new vertically stacked fog lamps which look quite good indeed. The front also features a skid plate for some rugged look. At the rear, there’s new LED tail lamps with a distinctive dual-square lamps setup and the tail gate too has been completely redesigned.
The teaser also allows some glimpses of the interiors of the 2020 Isuzu D-Max. There’s a new touchscreen infotainment system, revised auto climate control panel, new gearshift knob and also a new multi-function steering wheel. The new D-Max will be much more feature loaded than the present one with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and might also see some off-road specific features being added to the list. The cabin also seems to be more premium than before as the teaser with generous use of soft touch plastics and leather.

Although no mechanical details of the 2020 Isuzu D-Max has been confirmed, it is expected to continue with the 1.9-litre diesel engine that was recently introduced in several markets across the globe. India gets this engine as well with an automatic transmission. There’s also word for a 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine for select markets. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox with four-wheel drive as standard.

There has been no word yet on when the new 2020 Isuzu D-Max would make its way to India. You can expect it to arrive sometime next year, replacing the current model. Globally, the new D-Max will go on sale later this year and will take on the likes of the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux, Complete details on the new D-Max will be available later this month.
