Hyundai is going to launch the new 2020 Verna facelift in India very soon. The facelifted sedan has been revealed officially and we also have some details on it. As of now, the bookings for new Verna are open at dealerships for a token of Rs 25,000.
In China, the 2020 Hyundai Verna has already been launched and we are getting the same model. There will be some changes that will remain exclusive to India, but the overall design remains exactly the same.

Currently, the prices of Verna start off at Rs 8.18 Lakhs up to Rs 14.08 Lakhs. Once the new generation is launch, we are expecting the price of 2020 Hyundai Verna to start off at Rs 9.5 Lakhs and the top-spec variant to go up to Rs 15 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom).

Hyundai is launching the Creta in March on 16th March, following which, it is going to launch the new Verna. As far as media reports suggest, the Verna will be launched officially on 26th March.

Verna will get its engines from the Kia Seltos, replacing all of its existing engines. It will get a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 115 BHP and 144 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque.
While we were expecting Verna to get a 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol engine, it will rather go with the smaller turbo petrol. The sedan will borrow its engine from Venue, the 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol TGD-I three-cylinder motor. The engine will produce 120 BHP an 172 Nm of peak torque, making it the most powerful sedan in its class.
All the engines will be BS6 compliant right from the launch. As of now, only limited stocks of BS4 Verna are being sold at heavy discounts. The same engines will also power the new Creta.

A 6-speed manual gearbox will come as standard on all the variants. Further, the diesel engine will get the option of a 6-speed AT. The turbo petrol engine is also likely to get the new 7-speed DCT gearbox as standard. Additionally, to make things more “Fast And Furious”, it will get paddle shifters. The petrol engine will get a CVT gearbox as an option.

The dimensions of the 2020 Verna will remain the same. Although, the China-spec model is slightly longer by 26mm. The space inside the cabin will be slightly more and that could mean a smaller boot.
Exterior Design
The new Verna gets a complete makeover when it comes to styling. Now, it looks more inspired by the Sonata and Elantra. There’s the large Hyundai cascading grille at the front flanked by new LED projector headlamps. The front and rear bumpers have been completely reshaped for an edgier look.
It gets new dual-tone alloy wheels which look like the rest of the new Hyundai models. At the back, the boot lip will also undergo slight changes. There are sharper wrap-around LED tail lamps joined by an LED strip and rear fog lamps as well.
Interior Design
Inside the cabin, it will get an all-new dashboard theme with changes to the upholstery too. There’s a new steering wheel, all-new semi-digital instrument console and a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. There are chances that the turbo petrol variants could get all-black interiors whereas the other variants could get a dual-tone theme.
Competition
2020 Hyundai Verna will face competition with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid. Even, the new generation City is coming which is also set to get major upgrades. As for the Vento and Rapid, they will exist as petrol-only models from April. Ciaz gets a petrol engine as for now but will soon get a diesel engine too.
