The 2020 Hyundai Creta comes with a radical new design both on the outside and inside and will share its powertrains with the Kia Seltos. It will be previewed on February 6.
Ever since the first-gen Hyundai Creta made its debut in the Indian market, it has impressed people on all fronts and made a mark for itself in the mid-size SUV segment. It has largely enjoyed an unchallenged domination, until of course its cousin, the Kia Seltos arrived. However, the Hyundai Creta is set to make a comeback in its second-generation 2020 guise and you should be excited. The second generation of the hugely popular SUV has now been previewed in official sketches ahead of its debut at Auto Expo 2020.
As can be seen in the sketch images, the new Hyundai Creta is based on the second-gen ix25 revealed in China last year. The new Creta is quite radical in its design and not as immediately pleasing as its predecessor. As is the trend, the 2020 Hyundai Creta now gets split LED headlamps and tail lamps. The bonnet-line is more upright now and the top half of the SUV is more rounded than its predecessor with the bottom half being squarish, particularly because of those wheel arches and the flat nose. The India-spec model looks largely similar to the China-spec ix25 except for a different grille (which looks like a larger version of the one on the Venue) and a different alloy wheel design.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta will be making its debut on the second day of the Auto Expo on February 6. However, Hyundai will still not preview the interiors of the India-spec 2020 Creta right away as the show car will have blacked out windows, much like we saw with the Aura compact sedan. There has however been quite some speculation with the interior layout of the India-spec Creta. We will see the interiors only much closer to the market launch of this SUV sometime in mid-March and honestly, we really can’t wait to check that out.

What we are expecting is that the new Creta will get a large panoramic sunroof and the 10.25-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system as seen on the ix25. It is even expected to feature a digital instrument cluster and it will be much more premium and technologically loaded than the model it replaces. In fact, we expect the interiors to be as radical as the SUV appears on the outside.

In terms of powertrains, the all-new Hyundai Creta will borrow its engines and gearboxes from the hugely popular Kia Seltos and could also get the Seltos GT Line’s 1.4-litre turbo-petrol option. The second-gen Creta would literally be the same as the Seltos under the skin, sharing not only the powertrains, but also the chassis and underpinnings. The new 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to have an attractive pricing of around Rs 12-16 lakhs and it is as refreshed as it needs to be to take on the competition with a fresh vigor.
