MG Motor India has confirmed that it will bring many new models like MG3, RC6 and 360M in the market, over the next couple of years.
After seeing great success with the Hector, MG has confirmed that it will bring many new models in different shapes. Some of them will include the MG RC6, MG3 and the 360M, all slated to launch in the coming years.
MG3 is a premium hatchback that will compete with Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz. Globally, it gets a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine, that produces 104 BHP and 137 Nm of peak torque.
In the Indian market, definitely, it will get a smaller engine that will be fuel-efficient and fun to drive. MG says that this hatchback gets a racing DNA and even in the global market, it is conceived as a performance enthusiast’s car.
The second one in line is the MG RC6, which is a crossover type sedan. Its actually a mix of a coupe, sedan and a crossover. Once launched, it will enter in competition with Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis.
It is based on the Baojun RC 6, which gets a 1.5 Litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.0 Litre diesel engine. The petrol motor is the same that comes on the Hector. About the diesel engine, it is the new in-house developed twin-turbo diesel engine from SAIC.
The RC6 measures 4925mm and gets a long wheelbase of 2800mm. That says that the sedan-crossover will be very spacious from inside. Also, it gets a high ground clearance of 198mm, that is near to many SUVs.
Further, MG will also bring in the 360M, which is an MPV. It is slightly longer than the Ertiga and Marazzo. That’s the market of Innova and the 360M will go against it. In the Chinese market, it gets a 2.0 Litre turbo-diesel engine. It is available internationally in 7-seat, 9-seat and 10-seat configurations, but we might get it as a 7-seater.
