Here’s a comprehensive list of all the manufacturers you can expect at the 2020 Auto Expo with all the probable cars that they are expected to showcase.
The 2020 Indian Auto Expo is just about four months away, to be held from February 7th to 12th, 2020. Over the years, the Auto Expo has seen a lot of action with new launches, concepts and technology but currently, the Indian automobile market is in its lowest in the last two decades. Several factors have contributed towards that including rising ownership cost of vehicles and the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.
In the face of such circumstances many mainstream manufacturers have decided not to participate at the 2020 Auto Expo. That includes the likes of Honda, Toyota, Ford, Jeep and almost all of the luxury carmakers. In fact, Mercedes-Benz is the only luxury car maker at this year’s Auto Expo. Having said that, there’s no dearth of exciting things lined up at the 2020 Auto Expo. So here’s what you can look forward to from each of the participants at India’s largest automobile event.
Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest car maker and they might just have one of the largest stands at the 2020 Auto Expo. Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce the petrol iterations of the Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross, both of them only available with diesel engines until now. Maruti Suzuki has said that they will be bringing cleaner fuel for their entry level cars and on that note, Maruti is also expected to introduce CNG variants of their bread and butter cars. Along with this, a facelift for the Vitara Brezza and a premium WagonR (XL5) might also be on the cards.
Hyundai
Hyundai is the second largest car maker in India and Hyundai is expected to have one of the most happening pavilions at the Expo. They have already had some major launches this year like the Venue, Grand i10 Nios and the Elantra facelift. At the Auto Expo, the biggest show stopper at the Hyundai stand will be the next-gen Creta. Its one of the most anticipated SUVs and along with that, Hyundai is also expected to showcase facelifted versions of the Verna and the Tucson.
Tata Motors
India’s homegrown manufacturer will have a rather green display of cars. Tata Motors has quite some new cars to showcase at the 2020 Auto Expo. Perhaps the most anticipated among them is the Tata Nexon EV with the ZIPTRON technology that Tata debuted recently. Well, that’s not the only EV on the cards as the Altroz EV is also expected to make an appearance along with the regular Altroz with an IC engine. Talking about some other IC cars, Tata will debut the H2X compact SUV, the seven-seater version of the Harrier and an automatic variant of the Harrier as well.
MG Motors
One of the newest brands in the Indian market, MG motors has had great success with the Hector. Their second product for India is an electric SUV and that is going to be the highlight at the MG Motor’s stand at the Expo. MG Motors could launch the eZS electric SUV at the Expo along with the six and seven seater versions of the Hector as well. Apart from that, MG could also be showcasing the MG 6 hatchback and the MG 360 sedan but these cars will probably launch way later as MG currently wants to focus only on SUVs for the first three years. This is also MG Motor’s first appearance at the Auto Expo.
Kia
Even though Kia is a new to the Indian market, its not their first appearance at the Auto Expo. Back in 2018, Kia had one of the biggest stands at the Expo with their entire model range. They also showcased the SP2 Concept which then went on to become the Seltos. This year, Kia will be showcasing the Carnival Premium MPV at the Auto Expo. It will be Kia’s second product in India and will sit above the Innova Crysta. We also expect more news about its plans for the Soul EV, the Stinger GT, the Sportage crossover and the Niro hatchback.
Volkswagen
Volkswagen gave the 2018 Auto Expo a miss but this year, they are back with a bang. And no, its not familiar faces that you will see at the VW stand but an entire new range of vehicles. That includes an SUV to rival the Seltos which will be based on the MQB-AO-IN platform. The other one is expected to be the T-Roc, a Jeep Compass rival. Volkswagen is also expected to showcase the next-gen Polo at the Auto Expo considering that the current Polo is too old now. And considering India’s shift towards electric mobility, VW might as well bring the ID.3 hatchback for a display atleast.
Skoda
Volkswagen’s sister brand Skoda has an equally exciting lineup for the 2020 Auto Expo. Just like VW, Skoda is also developing a mid-size SUV based on the MQB-AO-IN platform and that is expected to debut at the Expo. Also, just like VW is bringing a rival from the Jeep Compass, Skoda will be bringing the Karoq SUV to rival the same. Along with this, Skoda will also showcase the facelifted versions of the Octavia that has its global unveil on November 11 and the Superb sedan as well.
Mahindra
One of the most exciting stands at the 2020 Auto Expo will be that of Mahindra. Mahindra has a slew of next-generation vehicles lined up for the Expo. Among them, the most anticipated in the next-gen Thar and we are certainly looking forward to it. Mahindra will also introduce the next-generations of the Scorpio and XUV500. Mahindra has also been working on an EV and to give the Nexon EV a fight, Mahindra shall be showcasing the all-electric XUV300. They will also display their entire range of BS-VI vehicles.

Renault too was missing from the last iteration of the Expo. And this year already, they have had quite a few important launches with the Triber, the facelifted Kwid and the facelifted Duster. But there’s more from Renault. The French car maker’s most important car at the Expo is expected to be the HBC mini SUV along with the next-gen Renault Duster. Renault might also showcase the all-electric City KZ-E. Also, Renault could reveal the replacement engine for its 1.5-litre diesel as the oil burner is set be discontinued post the implementation of BS6-emission norms.
Mercedes Benz
The only luxury car maker to participate in the 2020 Auto Expo will be Mercedes-Benz. Going with the electric trend, Mercedes could be displaying their EQ range of models which includes the EQC electric SUV and the EQS electric sedan. There will also be some conventionally powered IC SUVs at Mercedes’ stand which includes the 2020 GLS SUV, 2020 GLE SUV and the recently introduced 7-seater GLB. And yes, all of these are headed to India. There might be some jaw dropping AMG and Maybach cars as well.
