It is not sure that when the 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback will be launched in India but the second-gen Q3 will launch early next year.
Audi recently revealed the 2020 Q3 Sportback and boy the car looks handsome. Based on the ongoing Q3 which was unveiled earlier, this Audi Sportback gets the coupe-like styling.
Starting off with the front fascia, the 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback gets gloss black grille upfront and has been designed in such a way that it appears to be three-dimensional. The design of the car is packed in a way that the roofline gets a decrease by 29 mm and a marginal 16 mm increase in the external length.
The bumpers of the car also receive gloss black treatment, with LED headlights as standard. The full matrix LEDs come as an optional accessory. At the rear, it gets a large roof spoiler and diffuser at the bumper.

Step inside the Q3 Sportback and you will find similar dashboard design with same 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with 10.25-inch instrument cluster. It gets Audi’s virtual cockpit too. A new technology feature is added – ‘car-tox’ system which tells you when the traffic lights will turn green and Alexa Voice Control is available now.
The Audi Q3 Sportback also adds up to full array of active driver assists including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and rear cross-traffic alert.
The engine options for the Q3 Sportback remains the same – two diesel and one petrol engine. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual with front-wheel drive and 7-speed automatic gearbox.

The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, TFSI engine which produces a whopping 230 bhp. The 2.0L, Oil burner is available in two states of tune – 190 bhp and 150 bhp. The petrol and 190 bhp engines are paired with 7-speed AT and gets Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive. And the 150 bhp motor gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Audi also plans to introduce a mild-hybrid petrol engine – a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit for the TFSI trim. It will use a 48V battery which is claimed to save 0.38 litres of fuel per 100 km. It will be paired with an automatic gearbox.
Here in the country, Audi is yet to bring the second-gen Q3 early next year. It will compete against the BMW X1, Mercedes GLA and Volvo XC40. Currently, the Q3 is priced at Rs 34.75 lakh for the base trim to Rs 43.59 for the top-end trim. With the second-gen, the prices will see a premium over the current ones.
