The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has been tested by Euro NCAP and it has scored a very impressive 5-star safety rating with good scores in all criterias.
Safety ratings are one of the most important factors when buying a new car these days and in the latest around of Euro NCAP ratings, the India-bound 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE has scored a 5-star safety rating. The 2019 Mercedes Benz GLE was tested for all around impacts and it has come out with very good scores.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE scored 34.9/38 points – which is 91% rating – in the adult occupancy safety test and 44.2/49 points in the child occupancy test, which stands at 90%. The GLE was also tested for pedestrian protection and safety assist technology where it scored 37.8/48 points and 10.2/13 points respectively. That’s again 78% for each of the categories. For pedestrain safety, Euro NCAP tests Autonomous Emergency braking such as AEB Pedestrian, AEB Cyclist, AEB City, AEB Inter-urban.

This Euro NCAP safety ratings for the Mercedes-Benz GLE holds true for the GLE 300d variant with the 2.0-litre diesel, the 350d and 400d variants with the 3.0-litre diesel, and the GLE 450 with the 3.0-litre petrol. Its also applicable for both left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive configurations. The GLE comes with several standard safety features which include front, side and knee airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, Isofix child seat points at the rear, passenger airbag cut-off switch, seatbelt reminders, auto emergency braking (for pedestrians and cyclists), a speed alert system and lane keep assist.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE comes with a range of petrol and diesel engines. All engines come mated to a nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and they come with paddle shifters as well. It also comes with all-wheel drive on offer. The GLE competes with the BMW X5, the Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Velar, Porsche Macan and the Audi Q7. It will be launched in India by the second half of this year and it will be priced between Rs. 70-80 lakhs, ex-showroom.
