2019 Maruti Wagon R has been completely revealed in this exterior spy pics. The production of the tall-boy hatchback will start in January and the car will launch in Q1 2019.
Ahead of its official debut in the first quarter of next year, 2019 Maruti Wagon R has been spotted in India for the first time! Spy shots of the hatchback from Goa have surfaced up online. Looks like it was shooting for an upcoming teaser or TVC.
Next-gen Wagon R will see a full revised makeover with refreshed looks and design. Defying the rumours, it will look nothing like the global WagonR or the electric WagonR testing in India. Based on the photos, it gets a much more premium design.
At the front, it gets a curved steeping bonnet, unlike the straight one from the current-gen. The headlights also look a bit different and bigger than the outgoing model. It looks a bit compact on the front.
From the side, it gets a floating roof-style design, which is also seen in new Ertiga and Swift. The wing-mirrors and the overall side appearance remain identical to the outgoing WagonR.

From the rear, it gets a notable refreshment. 2019 Maruti Wagon R sports large pillar-mounted tail lamps just above the rear turn indicator and reverse lamp. The rear bumper seems to be lifted up giving it a noticeable hunchback. The number plate housing remains the same.
Summarising, the 2019 Maruti Wagon R gets major upgrades in terms of design. It will look very different from the current-gen WagonR.
Upcoming Wagon R will continue to use the same platform. It will not use Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform which comes under Maruti Swift and Baleno. However, the platform will be tweaked to adhere to the upcoming crash test norms.
2019 Maruti Wagon R will continue with the same 1.0 Litre 3-cylinder engine. The engine produces 67 BHP and 90 Nm of peak torque. However, as the reports say, the engine will be tweaked to offer better power and torque figures.

It will continue with petrol and CNG configurations. We believe that CNG models will be available right from the launch.
Mainly, we believe, that the engine will be BS-4 compliant as of now. Earlier, Maruti Suzuki stated that it would not introduce BS-6 vehicles before January 2020. So, there are chances that all the models – new and old – will come with upgraded engines in 2020.
Features onboard 2019 Maruti Wagon R will include SmartPlay infotainment system, Auto-AC, keyless entry, push-button start-stop, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and steering mounted audio controls. It will also get a revised instrument cluster which shows average fuel economy and the driving range of the car.
Safety features onboard will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Rear Parking sensors and Speed alert system as standard fitment. The top-end variant will come with a rear-view camera as well.

Now, talking about the competition, it will face one with Hyundai Santro. The age-old rivalry is back and now Wagon R will come with a similar features list as of Santro. Other competitors will include Renault Kwid, Datsun GO and Tata Tiago.
The prices of the 2019 Maruti Wagon R will increase by a decent margin, given to the updates that it receives. However, the base price of the hatchback would not cross Rs 4.3 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
