Latest details of the 2018 Maruti Wagon R reveal that it is going to launch in early 2019. Also, for lower costs, it will not get the HEARTECT platform. The tall-boy will now compete with the upcoming Hyundai Santro.
From the latest news, we get to know that the 2018 Maruti Wagon R is going to launch in early 2019. Earlier, many reports suggested that the launch would take place in the festive season. The tall-boy hatchback will get a whole generation update with new features and a completely new design. Also, now that its old rival, Hyundai Santro is making a comeback, the 2018 Maruti Wagon R will be squarely aimed at the other tall-boy hatchback.
Other details say that the upcoming Wagon R will not use the HEARTECT platform. Earlier, it was widely speculated that since the Dzire and Swift come with the platform, the Wagon R might have it too. However, 2018 Maruti Wagon R will not get the HEARTECT platform, in order to keep the costs low.

Since it will rival against the likes of Hyundai Santro, so the Wagon R might come equipped with a similar feature list. We expect ABS and dual front airbags as standard fitments across all variants. Similarly, the high-end variants might get a touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate, steering mounted audio controls and more such features.
Now expect a completely new design makeover. Most likely, it will look similar to the latest-gen Wagon R launched in the Japanese market. The 2018 Maruti Wagon R will retain its original tall-boy looks, but certain things like the styling of the bonnet, rear portion and bumpers might be revised.

Since it does not get the HEARTECT platform, the mileage figure would more or less be similar to the current one. Expect a sincere mileage figure of around 20 kmpl on an average.
We talked about its sole competitor earlier. However, the other rivals also include Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago, Datsun GO and also the Celerio. Amongst these, it still remains to be one of the best sellers.
