The 2018 Maruti Swift was launched at the 2018 Auto Expo. In less than two months, the Swift has bagged over 75,000 bookings. Maruti is planning to introduce a new 6-speed manual transmission expected to feature first on the Swift and Dzire.
Maruti Suzuki introduced the all-new Dzire last year in India. The compact sedan offered new premium looks and updated interiors. The response was ecstatic for the Dzire collecting over 44,000 bookings in less than a month’s time. The new 2018 Maruti Swift was launched at the 2018 Auto Expo. Upcoming new Swift promises better everything with evolutionary design shift on the exterior and revolutionary on the inside. Maruti’s new hatchback crossed the 75,000 bookings mark in less than two months.
2018 Maruti Swift – Launch Price
The all-new 2018 Maruti Swift was launched at a starting price of INR 4.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The range-topping diesel variant will set you back by INR 8.29 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The sudden outburst of buyers crossing the 75,000 mark can lead for a waiting period of up to 8 weeks.

2018 Maruti Swift – New Gearbox
Maruti Suzuki plans to upgrade their 5-speed manual transmission unit, replacing it with a 6-speed instead. Codenamed MF30, the upcoming new gearbox will enhance the driving experience while improving overall mileage. Maruti Suzuki wants to introduce the gearbox on the top-selling Swift and Dzire first. The upcoming Ciaz facelift in August this year will be the first vehicle from Maruti to introduce the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. The sedan will also be offered with the 6-speed unit. The extra gear helps in reducing the load on the engine, especially at higher speeds. The additional gear helps keeps the rpm in check at high speeds increasing the fuel efficiency as well.

2018 Maruti Swift – Specifications
Available to order in twelve different configurations, the all-new 2018 Maruti Swift features LED projector headlamps with DRL, 15-inch alloy wheels, pillar mounted rear door handles, LED tail lamps, engine push start-stop button, leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel and Smartplay infotainment system with navigation, Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
Powering the new Swift are the same 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine and the Fiat sourced 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. The former churns out 81.8 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The diesel unit makes 74 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines are available to order with a 5-speed manual and AGS (Automatic Gear Shift) transmissions. The new Swift delivers 22kmpl for the petrol and 28.4 kmpl for the diesel variant.
When it comes to safety features, the 2018 Maruti Swift gets dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchorages as standard. Furthermore, reversing camera and sensors are offered in the top variants.
