Maruti Suzuki is hell-bent on retaining their number one position in the Indian auto market. While the company is deploying several measures to do the same, one of them is constantly bringing in new products and refreshing the existing ones. At the recent Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki even showcased their latest offering, the all-new Swift and it looks mesmerising. Talking about future products, the automaker’s one of the most successful urban hatchbacks, the WagonR is due for a model upgrade and the same was recently spied testing in the NCR by our friends at Express Drives. 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR – Launch Price
The upcoming 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR is slated to launch later this year or early next year. Expect the new WagonR to be priced between INR 4 lakh to INR 6 lakh.
2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR – Spyshot
Caught testing in the spy shot is an early stage prototype of the upcoming 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR. To be based on the new HEARTECT platform, the new WagonR will be lighter and stiffer than the outgoing model. The new Swift and Dzire share the same HEARTECT platform as well. Visually, the new WagonR will carry the design language of the international model which was unveiled in Japan in February 2017. The upcoming WagonR to carry heavy visual as well as hardware upgrades. Despite the heavy camouflage, certain updates can be verified easily, like the sleeker ORVMs with turn signals, updated front headlight, grille and bumper and similarly updated tailgate and rear bumper. The interior cannot be noticed in the images but we expect Maruti Suzuki to deliver a more upmarket interior with the latest tech being offered on board. Maruti might continue to offer the WagonR with steel rims with the top-end variant featuring wheel covers.
2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR – Drivetrain
The upcoming 2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR will continue with the existing powertrain i.e. the 998cc, 3-cylinder K10B petrol engine that churns out 67 bhp of max power and 90 Nm of peak torque. The engine will transfer its power via a 5-speed manual gearbox and Maruti’s in-house 5-speed auto gear shift (AGS) unit as an optional extra.
2018 Maruti Suzuki WagonR – History
The Maruti Suzuki WagonR was first launched in 1999 with the current generation being offered since 2013. Last year Maruti Suzuki added another top-end variant to the existing VXi variant namely VXi+. This new variant looked like an updated version of the Stingray and offered premium features on the existing model.
