The Maruti Ciaz has to be the most successful C2-segment sedan to be sold by the country’s largest car manufacturer. Launched in 2014, the Ciaz has managed to establish a strong foothold in the highly competitive C-segment of Indian car market. Thanks to attributes like a really spacious cabin, high mileage, attractive price, and low maintenance, this sedan has managed to establish a strong foothold in the market. However, the new Verna, along with an increase in prices of SHVS Diesel hybrid with the introduction of GST, has left quite a dent on this car’s sales. The company is now planning to launch the 2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift to revive the sales performance.
The upcoming Ciaz facelift will make its debut at the Auto Expo 2018 and will launch soon thereafter. Prices are likely to see some reduction. Maruti has been tight-lipped on the exact launch date but our friends at Gaadiwaadi have managed to come up with spy images of the upcoming model testing on Indian public roads. Also, Maruti could be planning to remove the SHVS tech to bring down the prices of its sedan. The facelift for the Indian market will look much like the new Suzuki Alivio Pro that made its debut at the Chengdu International Auto Show in August this year.

2018 Maruti Ciaz Facelift Price in India
Minimum | Rs. 7.50 lakh |
Maximum | Rs. 10.50 lakh |
Prices shouldn’t see much of a change. However, the Ciaz is likely to become better value for money by offering a fresher design and more features. While Maruti has so far dismissed all rumours regarding its plan of removing the SHVS technology, prices of the Diesel model would actually go down in case the mild-hybrid tech is really given a miss. For now, it looks like the prices will start at Rs 7.50 lakh and go all the way to Rs 10.50 lakh mark.

Boot Space | 510 L | 510 L |
Engine Type/ Displacement | 1.4 L Petrol | 1.3 L Diesel |
Power | 91 bhp | 89 bhp |
Torque | 130 Nm | 200 Nm |
Transmission (Gearbox) | 5-speed manual/4-speed |
The India-spec 2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift will get the same engines as the current car. This means that the K14 1.4-litre Petrol and the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre DDIS turbocharged Diesel engines will continue to impress us with their smooth performance and a high mileage.
While chances look slim at the moment, many opine that India-spec Ciaz should get a new 1.6-litre petrol engine that powers the China-spec model. This new engine will enable the Ciaz to fend off the heat from the powerful new Hyundai Verna. This Petrol engine outputs a max. power of 121 BHP and a peak torque of 158 Nm. Also, the new 1.5-litre Diesel engine that Suzuki has been working on would also improve the car’s performance by a huge margin.
New Maruti CIaz Facelift Mileage
Petrol | Diesel | |
Mileage | 20.73 KMPL (MT)/19.12 KMPL (AT) | 28.09 KMPL |
Aided by the excellent SHVS, the 1.3 L Diesel engine makes the Ciaz one of the most fuel-efficient cars on sale in India. It offers an ARAI-tested average mileage of 28.09 KMPL. Even the petrol engine offers an average fuel mileage of around 20 KMPL. Now, the unfortunate part is that Maruti might decide to remove the SHVS in order to bring down the prices of the Diesel models by a considerable margin.
