The specifications and features list of the upcoming 2018 Honda CR-V is out. The premium SUV is going to launch for sure, on 9th October. The biggest update that it receives is that it is now a 7-seater SUV, rivaling Fortuner and Endeavour.
We recently drove the 2018 Honda CR-V at their media event. Now, we have the full list of its specifications and features and a confirmed launch date of 9th October. The premium-SUV is Honda’s one of the slowest performers in India. However, with the new update, it seems to strike a balanced equation. The 2018 CR-V gets a new 1.6 Litre diesel engines from its Earth Dreams family. Also, it is a 7-seater SUV with a third seating row. However, only diesel variant gets this luxury and the petrol one comes with a 5-seater layout. Now, just the prices are left to be declared.

Starting with the specifications, it gets a new 1.6 Litre diesel turbo engine. Both the petrol and diesel variant come without a manual transmission. The diesel variant comes with 2WD and a 4WD option. The 2.0-litre petrol engine is carried from the current Honda CR-V.
The petrol engine produces around 154 BHP @ 6500 RPM of power and 189 @ 4300 Nm of torque. The diesel engine produces 120 BHP @ 4000 RPM of power and 300 Nm @ 2000 RPM of peak torque. The diesel figures look low and not that attractive.

For transmission, the petrol engine uses a CVT gearbox. The diesel engine comes mated to a new 9-speed automatic gear selector with paddle shifters. That means, there is no manual transmission onboard.
The claimed fuel efficiency of the 2018 Honda CR-V petrol variant is around 14.4 kmpl. The same for the diesel engine is 19.5 kmpl in 2WD and 18.3 kmpl in 4WD. The engine is underpowered but the mileage efficiency is high. So it can easily balance out as a fuel-efficient SUV.
The dimensions for the petrol and diesel variants are the same except the weight and cargo space. Since the diesel variant gets a third row, it plays a toll on the space of the boot. The petrol variant gets a boot of 522 liters and can be extended up to 1084 liters when the 2nd row is folded. The diesel variant gets a mere 150 liters storage. It gets 472 liters storage when the third row is folded and 936 liters when both the rows are folded.

On 9th October, Honda will announce the prices of the CR-V. Our expectations of the price are around Rs 25 Lakhs. At this price, it will undercut the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. For a more popular demand, it needs to win over the Fortuner and Endeavour.
