The Ford Aspire, which started its life as the Ford Figo Aspire, has pretty much failed to leave a lasting impression on the compact sedan buyers. While Ford India must have hoped that the Aspire would benefit from the high brand value that the old Figo enjoyed, the same didn’t turn out to be true. Hence, the ‘Figo Aspire’ became simply the ‘Aspire’ and now, the company is busy readying a facelift to inject some freshness into its new-gen Figo-based sedan. The 2018 Ford Aspire facelift will not only carry many styling updates but will even see some major changes in its specifications owing to the introduction of a new engine.

Also, the addition of new features, such as the SYNC3 infotainment unit, will further help the Aspire project itself as a fairly competent alternative to some of its high-selling rivals. While the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will be new, the Diesel variant will continue to draw power from the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged oil burner. Overall, the 2018 Ford Aspire should have enough to attract car buyers in its segment.

2018 Ford Aspire Facelift Launch Price
The new Aspire will likely launch soon after the commencement of the next financial year. While the Aspire facelift will have many new features and an updated engine, we don’t see Ford India planning to increase the prices. Currently, the Aspire has a starting price of Rs 5.58 lakh. We don’t think the facelift would cost a lot more. It may be noted here that a competitive pricing plays a vital role in the success of any mainstream car in a price-sensitive market like that of ours.
2018 Ford Aspire Facelift Specifications
The new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine for the Aspire will also find itself powering the refreshed Figo and the Figo Freestyle. This engine belongs to the Dragon series of new-age petrol engines and goes on to output a maximum power of 95 hp along with a peak torque of 115 Nm. The new 1.5-litre three-pot engine on the EcoSport also belongs to this new family of engine. The current 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine for the Aspire outputs a maximum power of 110 hp along with a peak torque of 136 Nm. It’s not clear if this engine option would be axed or get replaced with the new 1.5-litre unit.
The new 1.2-litre petrol engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that will send power to the front wheels. There won’t be an option of an automatic transmission, at least not in the beginning. Rumours abound that the 1.2-litre mill is likely to get an AMT at a later stage but we yet to hear from the company on this.
2018 Ford Aspire Facelift Mileage
1.2 Petrol | 21 KMPL |
1.5 Petrol | 18 KMPL |
1.5 Diesel | 25 KMPL |
The new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Petrol engine will offer a peak mileage of roughly 21 kmpl. The current 1.2-litre petrol engine can only offer as much as 19 kmpl. This is mainly due to the lack of low-end grunt and constant need to change gears in slow-moving traffic. All this is likely to change with the advent of the new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Dragon series engine. The Diesel engine will be carried over from the Figo hatchback. It will offer a mileage of up to 25 kmpl.
