The updated for 2018 Bajaj V15 features minor visual and aesthetic changes.
Our homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto hosted a press conference recently. The company launched the new Discover range at the conference and showcased refreshed variants of several other models. The 2018 Bajaj V15 was one of the models that featured subtle changes. The changes are very minimal hence even the company is not addressing it as a facelift. The 2018 Bajaj V15 is merely a slight update to the existing model to keep customers excited while improving appeal and functionality.
2018 Bajaj V15 – Introduction
The Bajaj V15 went on to become one of the most popular premium commuter bikes in India. Bajaj Auto bought the scrap metal used in the INS Vikrant, the first aircraft carrier of independent India which was decommissioned and was supposed to be scrapped for recycling the metal. Bajaj used this as an opportunity to purchase bulk metal at a low price and use the connection for marketing. A brilliant move from the automaker resulted in the instant success of the bike with the V15 clocking over 60,000 units in sale within two months of its launch itself. Going strong, the V15 found over 1.6 lakh customers within seven months of launch.
Our friends at GaadiWaadi spotted the new 2018 Bajaj V15 at a dealership in North India. Bajaj Auto has not officially released the updated V15 yet and was merely showcased alongside the new Discover series at the conference last week. The bike spotted bears Heroic Red paint job and features the pillion backrest that was a part of the update this year. Also new are the front fork guards that provide added protection to the cycle parts. The newly added backrest features the “V” logo as well.
2018 Bajaj V15 Specifications and Features
The 2018 Bajaj V15 derives its power from a single-cylinder 149.5 cc SOHC mill. The engine churns out 12 PS of power @ 7,500 rpm and 12.7 Nm of torque @ 5,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed transmission powering the rear wheel with a chain-type final drive. Cycle parts include telescopic front forks and twin Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power comes from a 240mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. The tank on the V15 holds 13-litres of fuel and the bike tips the scales at 137kg kerb weight.
The 2018 Bajaj V15 is essentially the outgoing bike with new accessories. The changes, as mentioned above, are minimal and would affect the MSRP ever so slightly. The premium commuter comes with a 55/60 W DC headlamp with AHO feature. The instrument cluster houses an analogue meter on the left and warning lights on the right. The tail lamp retains its design and uses LED for illumination.
