So the 2017 Yamaha R15 V3 is finally out, and we just can’t wait for its India launch! The new 2017 R15 V3.0 looks like a major overhaul and is far more than merely a cosmetic update. Prices will be revealed only at the time of official launch in India. However, it would be only safe to assume that the R15 V3 will be slightly pricier than the current model. However, the enhanced specifications and fresher styling should completely justify the higher price tag.

The new 2017 Yamaha R15 V3 comes with a bigger engine and more power. No surprise then, that, the new R15 V3.0 will find it easy to outperform the R15 V2.0. Compared to the R15 V2’s 149cc engine, the V3.0 gets a 155cc mill from the Yamaha NMax. It also benefits from a slipper clutch and Variable Valve Actuation. Also, the R15 V3 comes with USD front forks, a feature we sorely missed on the R15 V2.

The fuel average mileage will be almost the same. However, the V3 could be just a wee bit thirstier. This would be owing to a slightly bigger engine and more power. Thanks to more power, the R15 V3.0 will enjoy a higher top speed. Actual figures are yet to be revealed, but it would be safe to assume that the 2017 R15 will be marginally faster than the model it replaces.

The new 2017 Yamaha R15 V3 definitely looks a lot sportier than the R15 V2. It gets many new body panels, which, along with the new USDs, make the V3.0 look like a bigger machine. Also, the new paint options and decals make the bike look more attractive. The ‘pièce de résistance’, however, are those stylish LED headlamps. The R15 V3.0 also gets a new speedo and a better riding position. While the R15 V2.0 received a lot of flak for its very uncomfortable pillion seat, the V3.0 isn’t likely to face this issue. At first glance, the new 2017 Yamaha R15 V3 seems to bear a resemblance with the Honda CBR600RR. However, a closer look reveals the bike actually takes some design cues from YZF R125 and YZF R6. Basically, all this is definitely a lot fresher than the mini-me R1 looks of the V2.0.

As can be clearly made out from this comparison, the R15 V3 has a lot more going for it than the V2.0. True, it will also bear a higher price tag, but there are good chances that the higher asking price will be justified by the gains in performance, features and styling. We are very happy with the way the R15 has evolved. And guess what, we just can’t wait to swing a leg over this new baby and hit the mountains for some apex hunting! The new 2017 Yamaha R15 V3 seems to be a much better product than its predecessor.
