The popular XUV500 SUV is all set to receive a facelift this year. This comes just days after news of Mahindra Scorpio facelift surfaced online. The upcoming facelift will the second since the XUV500’s launch in India. The 2017 Mahindra XUV500 facelift is likely to get styling changes and updates to the interior. Also, Mahindra might retune the 2.2 L diesel that powers the SUV to produce more power and torque. The upcoming new model Mahindra XUV500 launch will take place before the end of 2017. While the exact launch date is unavailable at this moment, expect the new XUV500 to arrive in showrooms in the last quarter of 2017. Other Mahindra launches planned for the future include Scorpio facelift, SsangYong Tivoli based S201, SsangYong Rexton based SUV, a new MPV and TUV300 XL.

Prices of the XUV500 will fall once the Indian Government rolls out GST in July. So, by the time the new one is launched it will be cheaper than it is right now. Currently, the XUV500 is available with a 2.2 L mHawk diesel that puts out 140 BHP and 330 Nm, as stated above. There could be an increment in power and torque figures on the cards. Mahindra will continue to offer the XUV500 with 4×4 and 6-speed automatic as options. XUV500’s chief rival, Tata Hexa, makes more power. So, Mahindra might br looking to match those figures on paper.
Mahindra has been evaluating the petrol variants of the Scorpio and XUV500 for the Indian market. The facelift could feature petrol variants as well. Mahindra has been working with SsangYong to develop a new family of petrol engines. A new engine from that lineup could power XUV500 Petrol.
