The new model 2017 Chevrolet Beat is almost ready for its launch. The new 2017 Chevrolet Beat carries many significant updates over the current model, which has lost out to newer rivals. Chevrolet released the new generation Beat across many international markets in early 2016. However, unlike the international Beat (aka Spark), the 2017 Chevrolet Beat for India isn’t based on an all-new platform. The Chevy Beat will continue to offer a Petrol and a Diesel engine variant. The Diesel motor will be the same 1.0-litre, 3-pot motor that powers the current car. However, the Petrol engine could be a new 1.0-litre unit that will be a downsized version of the 1.4-litre EcoTech motor. That said, don’t be surprised if GM India ends up retaining the current 1.2-litre Petrol engine. Our guess is that the new 2017 Chevrolet Beat range would have a starting price of Rs 3.90 Lakh in India.

2017 Chevrolet Beat India Launch Date

The 2017 Beat is likely to go on sale in July 2017. According to leaked info, the Beat is scheduled for a mid July launch. At the time of its unveiling at the Auto Expo and also later on 2016, GM India announced they will launch the Beat in early 2017. However, that has clearly not been the case. The halt in operations at GM’s Halol plant and General Motors reevaluating its India plans could be the reasons behind the delayed launch.

Test mules of the upcoming Chevrolet hatchback have been spotted on public roads on numerous occasions. These images and videos clearly reveal that while the overall shape remains the same, the front and rear end styling will be new. In recent times, the test mules were caught with minimal camouflage.

2017 Chevrolet Beat Price in India

The new 2017 Chevrolet Beat price range is expected to start at Rs 3.90 Lakh. Price of the fully loaded Diesel model could be around Rs 6.5 lakh. Currently, the Beat has a starting price of Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The whole point of retaining the old model and platform is to ensure aggressive pricing. Therefore, our guess is the new Beat would be priced lower than the current model to attract more buyers.

The 2017 Chevrolet Beat will offer both Petrol and Diesel engine options. While the Diesel models will get the current 1.0-litre motor, the Petrol models could get a new 1.0-litre unit. However, we won’t be surprised to instead see the current 1.2-litre Petrol engine making it to the specs list.

True, the new Chevrolet Beat 2017 isn’t an all-new model. However, it carries a sea of changes over the current model and looks more attractive. The silhouette remains largely unchanged but the new model till manages to look fairly more modern. The facelift sports the latest iteration of manufacturer’s two-part grille. The headlamp cluster is new goes on to enhance the appearance of the front fascia. Also, small changes have been made in the sheet metal – the car gets some new creases and surfaces. The rear gets new taillights and a new boot-lid. The new Beat ditches the circular setup in favour of slightly more angular shapes.

Interior

We have always loved the Beat’s interior design, especially for bits like the superbike inspired speedo console. The 2017 Chevrolet Beat gets a dual tone beige-black color theme for the dashboard and upholstery. The instrument cluster is new and so is the centre console design. The Beat will continue to offer just one transmission option – 5-Speed Manual. With the demand for automatics on the rise, Chevrolet might consider launching the new Beat with an auto box.
